Happy Christmas with my first print

Posted by at 6:44 AM, December 20, 2006

Merry Christmas everybody.
I thought I'd let the world see my first very modest little print, "Catching Snowflakes". 6.5 x 5cms. (So I think the image you can see below is about 4 times bigger!). I've had to fit it in around a busy work schedule, but it's gone out as a Christmas card to select friends and family, and via this blog, to all at Baren.

Only 3 blocks, black, blue and red/light pink.

Considering it's my first attempt at anything like this before, I'm quite pleased, and I've learnt far more by doing than I have by just reading, especially when it came to printing. I just want to get stuck into my next one now.

Merry Christmas everybody.

Hi Mark, this is very cute and also very well done...you have captured the essence of moku hanga
with your use of soft colors and letting the white of the paper do it's thing...congrats.

Careful..this stuff is addictive !

This is very cute, Mark. The registration looks spot-on, too. Nice job; I look forward to seeing the next one.

Charming and sweet! I really like this a lot--nice job.

Mark, this first print of yours is impressive and cute! Made me chuckle right away. I also like your initial chop-like look.

Have fun!

Greetings Everyone,

Mark:
This Christmas print is outstanding - especially for a first time project. I only hope that my first attempt will be as successful and as artistically pleasing as your is.

The signature stamp is well placed. I appreciate the sense of life that your print instills within me. It's as if at any moment now - I expect the character to actually catch the snow.

I just found this wonderful blog/website a few days ago and plan on visiting often. I myself create linoleum prints and plan on teaching myself the beautiful art of woodblock printing.

Everyone here is so talented, dedicated, and extremely supportive and welcoming.

Thank you Mark for sharing your creation with us, and thank you to everyone that makes the Baren [woodblock printing] Forum happen. I am truly blessed to have found you all.

Many blessings & much inspiration to you all this year!
