Hope

Carol L. Myers, Indianapolis, IN USA

Information on the print:

Relief print on Echizen Kozo, hand colored with watercolor

Comments from the artist:

Using traditional Japanese motifs for waves and the Crane, I portrayed them on a kimono because block printing was traditionally used as a base for embroidery on kimonos. The crane is a symbol of longevity and good fortune. The folding of one thousand origami cranes is associated with making a special wish. My special wish for the people of Japan is "Hope"
