Comments from the printmaker ... This print is of course, different from all the others in this exchange, in that it was not made by the artist directly. Gakutei was a designer only, and prints using his designs were always produced by specialist craftsmen working for publishers. I work within that old tradition, carving and printing designs from past centuries.

Whether or not such a print thus truly belongs in this exchange I cannot say, but anyway it is a woodblock print ...
