The print is done on Okawara with oil based inks.
Cicadas are facinating and mysterious insects. They live as larva
for 13-17 years under the ground, and then emerge to climb a tree,
mate, buzz and fly around for a week or so before dying. A brood of
thousands emerging simultaneosly after a 17 year wait, and the way
the trees sing with thousands of these harmless creatures on a summer
day ... to imagine the loss of such magic and drama is indeed sad.
Due to urbanization however, cicadas are endangered and some broods
are thought to be extinct.
