Eileen, sorry to hear about your dog. I know how much one can come to mean
to a person and how big a part of their life they can become. This just
leaves a bigger hole in our lives when they are gone. If you have ever
visited my website you can see what my dogs mean to me. I recently did a
letterpress print for an event that I hosted here Las Vegas for my favorite
charity Greyhound Pets of America. I donated the proceeds of the sales of
this print to the organization. I think the quote which is from a poem by
Pablo Neruda is one of the best descriptions I have ever read about a dog.
"Joyful, joyful, joyful as only dogs know how to be, happy with only the
autonomy of their shameless spirit" This line is from the poem titled "A
Dog has Died".

Subject: New Woodblock Residency Program in Japan

Ms. Keiko Kadota, the founder of the successful Nagasawa Art Park residency program in Awaji, Japan, has just announced a new and expanded program that offers artists at any level of experience an opportunity to come to Japan to study woodblock printmaking. Called the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory (MI-LAB), the program "is designed for international artists, print teachers and printmakers who wish to learn Japanese mokuhanga printmaking techniques under Japanese teachers." The facility is located in Fuji-Kawaguchiko-cho, a lakeside town at the base of Mt. Fuji about a three-hour train ride from Tokyo.There are three basic programs being offered. You can read the descriptions at this link.Applications are now being taken for a 30-day residency this summer, June 20 - July 20, 2012.
