Wellcome Maciej.
Gayle, I received my beautifull box of prints in Monterrey Mexico. The prints are great and the box is amazing.
Do any of you know where I can find layout instruction for more design of boxes?.

The collection is great and I would like to exhibit it sometime.
I do not own a gallery but several institutions lend us their gallery for exhibit. I wish I had more time to do exhibits.
I am planning a solo exhibit of printmaking for 2013 I have not done one since 2008.

Thank you all and gayle for the hard work. Saludos, Guadalupe

that is very true
the warning about taking bark
it is very easy to kill a tree by doing it wrong

one can usually gather bags of bark strips in a forest that has WHITE BIRCH
the bark peels itself off in good sized strips
the temptation is to take too much
but better to only take a little
come back when you need more

besides its uses for paper , baskets and boxes
it is a great fire starter for your kindling

most of our big old PAPER BIRCHES are gone
artists i know mostly get their bark off
white birch logs already cut for firewood
then you can get MANY layers to work with
which if you took it off a live tree would kill it
i think that some of these very thin brown layers
might be quite interesting to print
perhaps i will try it

our local white birch now has a blight that causes
large back scabs to mar the bark
then it dies early or simply does not thrive-

thank you-Betty for your kind comment

I'm happy to hear some of the last of Exchange #50 packages are finally arriving, though there are 6 people whom I believe have not received theirs yet.

Guadalupe, the name of the book I used (which featured the design for the small exchange boxes that I had made) is an out-of-print book titled "Books, Boxes, and Wraps" by Marilyn Webberley and JoAn Forsyth. I looked online for you and found there are some copies available through Amazon.com but they look to be expensive. There are some used ones for $36 and new ones for twice that much, and others even more expensive. It's a good book, but a paperback, so if I were ordering one, I wouldn't buy one of the new ones. There were about 6 used ones available.

Hoping to hear from those last few Exchange $50 participants soon. It seems they are trickling in now.

I rechecked and there are 20 used copies of "Books, Boxes, and Wraps" at $36 (only 6 copies of the "New" books).

Gayle..........
In a response to Gaudalupe, would it be an infringement of a patent
if you were to send a copy of the box specs? And, if you had them
made, where did you get the work done?
Obviously I am interested as well.......but only for personal use.

Terry,
I have taken over the Chinese Zodiac exchange. I'm using Julio's
code, just changing things when needed.

Great to hear you're working on your prints. I've just started
working on my drawing.

Syd Harper,
If you meant to be in the exchange, you need to sign up again and
leave your address.

Bea,
For earlier exchanges I have formatted the addresses so I could print
them print and will do so this time send to all the participants if
they have left their email address.

Posted by: Dave Bull

The last couple of days have seen plenty of progress on the keyblock carving of the Hokusai 'Fuji in the Window' image:

I have been much more careful with the sharpening than I have been in recent months/years (mostly due to the impetus from a very nice new knife blade I am testing for Sato-san), and it is showing ...
