I have been re-doing my guest room and wanted to hang new art. I looked
through my flat files for things that would "relate" to a print I
planned to use -- a sort of large print by one of my former printmaking
professors. I ended up framing three prints from Baren --from exchange
40 -- Morry's Orchids by Carol Chapel (who I realize, from the back of
her print, lives not too far away from me, in the Corvallis, OR area --
I'm in Clackamas) and two from the calendar project some years back.
January by Ruth Leaf and The Pig by Mellissa Read-Devine. I kind of
hated to remove prints from the calendars, but it's not 2004 anymore...
All three of these prints look wonderful matted and framed! I want to
use Hawaiian Tree Snail (exchange 18a) by Jack Reisland on another wall,
but have to figure out to frame it, since the image is irregularly
shaped.

I hadn't looked at the prints from exchanges I'd participated in for a while
and it was a real pleasure to spread them
out and pick some to display.

I think that's a great idea, Suzi.

I recently went thru all the exchanges I've participated in and I'm planning
to frame half a dozen or so. I'll be sure to mention what and whose prints
I use when I do. ;-]

Hi Suzi and all,

I, too, enjoy looking at the prints from previous exchanges. I usually
take them to my art classes to share and talk about technique and
composition and take the opportunity to introduce people to real
printmaking. I haven't framed any prints, but they would indeed add the
beauty and interest that we all enjoy. It is a nice surprise to see
another Oregonian 'neighbor' -- I'm in Damascus -- on Baren.

Looking forward to meeting each other in the next exchange. The small
(and economical) current exchange sounds great.

Happy Carving and Printing!

LE,
I got home too late for my answer to do you whole heckuva lot of good,
but in case things somehow got postponed, or somehow you, or someone
else, might use this information: you might contact Tom Conrad at
Conrad Machine. They deal with some used presses as well as their
own, and could probably give you a real good answer. I'm sure Dean
could, too. Hope you managed to reach someone. Takach would be
another resource.

Hope it worked out -
Sharri
