Linda & Viza,
Whether you print the entire edition at once is irrelevant - it is how
many you intend to print. If you intend to do 10 then number them, as
you print them (so keep a record), and if it is less than 10, no harm
done. You are only guaranteeing that you will do no more than 10. As
for the EV: if you are using different paper, color, etc. then it is
an Edition Variable. The way you have treated the waterfall (which is
a beautiful print in all stages) should be identified by States: I,
II, III, etc. and can also be identified as such in your disclosure
statement, or certificate of authenticity, or whatever it is called in
your location.
Happy printing,
Sharri
Thanks for the kind comments and advice on numbering.
but now i have more questions of course. I thought that "states" had
to do with a change in the matrix? since my matrix is the same in both
versions of the waterfall should i just number then all as EV? 1/30EV,
2/30EV, 3/30EV.....Or the oil based print Gold and Silver Falls I
1/20, 2/20, 3/20.... and the white line print Waterfall II 1/10EV
2/10EV 3/10EV....
thanks again,
viza
Viza,
It is two editions, I think you should number them 1/30 for each one and note on the back of the print that another edition exists in either oil or water based inks, or you could call one of them a second edition and note on the back the change from water to oil or vice versa
It is not exactly varied editions since all 30 prints are the same in both editions. You are right about the matrix changing in a "state".
My best
Barbara

Linda, your print is gorgeous, congrats to you! I am somewhere in
southern California on my way back to Washington, sitting drinking a
cool beer. The RV parks want extra for internet and the pubs have it
for free, so I can sip a cool one and chat.
I appreciate the info on phenolic press beds. I try to leave mine at
the coast well oiled, but one season I don't recall what happened but
it was oiled but left something it and the rust has begun. If I need
to replace it, I will definitely look into one of these. (we have high
humidity and salt water)
Hope to get home and work on my MAP.

Trudi, I put a coat of shellac on my woodcuts this stops water or solvents soaking into the wood.
for ink that is hard to wash off by drying on the roller citrus cleaner is good.
