When someone gave me two knives and a block of wood,
I poked about the internet, found Baren and started reading about how this works.
You'll find it's a good group with really great people
and loads of terrific information.
Welcome.

Along with the heart-warming welcomes in both private and public, I've been
asked if there is a place other members can see some of my work. I'll get
some photos up in a few days. Maybe you all will be able to give me some
good recommendations on how to improve some of the compositions, techniques,
and even paper choices.

Cheers,

Eli, there's an extra underscore that needs to be removed on those
links toward the end. In other words: http://
www.graphicchemical.com_/ should be http://www.graphicchemical.com/
See where I've removed the extra _ (the underscore before the forward
slash).

I'd be surprised if it isn't being done already. One can build a 3D
printer for < $1000
(http://store.makerbot.com/cupcake-cnc/cupcake-cnc-basic.html). Here's
a sample project that could easily be adapted for relief printing:

What an amazing technology I wasn't aware of!! But who would want to
print off plastic blocks? - now if they could feed powdered wood into
the printer- that would work -if there was a need I imagine it will be
done?!

Gayle, what I'm referring to is when I click on the Stephen Kinsella link, I'm sent to McClains site, it is the same thing with the other links in that group, labels are mismatched with destinations. While it's no big deal, it is a curious error.

Well, maybe it got fixed, Eli. The only thing wrong with it now that
I can see is that extra "_" in each address. If I remove that, the
links go to where they are supposed to.

Since there is little activity on the list at the moment I thought it
would be okay to share something funny. I went to the art store here
in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, today. I found two paint brushes that I
thought would be wonderful for spreading pigment in small areas on a
hanga block. At 13 pesos each (the dollar is 12 to one at the moment)
they were a steal!! I tossed them in the bottom of a bag and got them
home. One was not there and I looked all over the floor for it, not
there. I put up my groceries, turned around and there sitting on the
sofa was my little dog. She was happily chewing on her new find, my
new paint brush. I took it away from her and in exchange gave her a
dog biscuit. She saw it lying on the table and has been begging and
begging for it ever since I took it away. If it is on the floor she
thinks it is hers! (well golly if I were a do I would too).

Don't know how everyone else in the map exchange is coming along. I
have my subject and my materials at the ready. Will be working on a
block soon.

I have a funny dog story, too.
My dog thought the little rubber bulb with a tapered point that I used for
blowing air on pastel paintings was a dog toy. Everytime I brought it out
to use she would beg and stare, insisting it was hers. I had to be extra
careful that it didn't fall on the floor because she would have been all
over it.
Pets are a hoot and a delight to have around.

One of my dogs got into a bag of miniature frames I'd picked up for small
prints, etc. By the time I discovered them, they were fairly throughly
chewwed. I kept one of them tho and put a monoprint of Loki in it. I gave
him half the credit for his "signature" style. ;->

Subject: Paleo-Pinto?

Carved some more on my paleo-seahorse.  Looks more like a pinto or a paint now.  I need to do a test print, probably tomorrow.

A little more carving.
