Hi,
I have decided to take a break from moku-hanga printing for awhile because
it frustrates me so much. I wanted to print out the rest of my raven block
http://vizart.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html using oil based ink. I
mixed the blue PearlEx powder in with my black oil based ink and printed the
block as usual. I was disappointed because it just looked black with a very
faint shimmer but no blue at all. I figured i would have to print it again
with the PearlEx mixed with transparent base which is fine but i tend to be
lazy so it would have been better to get it done in one printing. So anyway
this morning being the impatient person i am i decided to check the prints
for dryness even though i know there is no way the ink could have possibly
dried over night so i rubbed it with my finger and there it was the blue
shimmer i was looking for after the print dries a little more i will burnish
the image and see if i can't get the blue to come up over the whole print. I
thought this might also be used along with an oil based Shiomen-zuri (Hiding
Technique).

Hello Everyone!

I am happy to announce that the theme for Baren's Exchange #45 will be:

MAPS!!!

I have to tell you that over the last few days since the categories were announced, all of the votes that have been cast were unanimous. Astounding, Amazing, and RARE. With everyone so enthusiastic about this theme, it is bound to be an incredible exchange that everyone will want to participate in. I can hardly wait to see all the awesome prints that will be coming out.

Sign-ups will open tomorrow--April 1st. (No April Fool's joke here!)
Remember that the paper size is oban (15" x 10" / 38cm x 25.5 cm)

Finished prints are due to the coordinator on or before August 1, 2010.

Sign-up, Cut, & Print

A couple more sketches for the Airship & Kraken.

When in doubt, displace.  Time to quit sketching and make that cartoon.

Yikes!  I need wood!  Just ordered some from McClains.  Teach me to just assume.

So I guess it's back to the sketching.  ;- j  At least until the blocks get here.

It was probably more than 2 years ago when Margie, Mandy and I had this idea of using a house for a site specific art installation regarding women and home. We couldn't do it last year, but we did it this year at last.I was frustrated to know that the chosen house was "historical" meaning we could basically do nothing on the walls, no sticking, nailing, hanging, painting, etc. So, what was I
