Getting the digest seems to make one late with condolences. Dale was a
frequent contributor and he will be missed here. When I mail my year
of the ox card I will remember to send one to his address. He seems
to have been a fine human and will be missed by all his friends and
family. I am sorry for your loss.

To Larry Phelps :
I'd always wondered about the two Phelps addresses on Baren exchanges and it was very sad to learn of your brother Dale's death. I send my most heartfelt sympathy and thank you for the links to the articles about his most inspiring life and work.
sincerely,
Louise Cass

I'm so sorry to hear of Dale's passing. He was a valued member of the
Forum and he and his sense of humor will be sorely missed. Thank you
so much for including the articles and the link to his prints. My
husband was also a prostate cancer patient, we were lucky enough to
catch it when it he was very young and he is a survivor, but it could
have so easily gone the other direction. We can only hope medicine
will find a cure that will work for everyone someday soon. I have a
cousin and his wife who are working on that very thing in Austin and
every year I hope they will come up with some major breakthrough.
Meanwhile, know that you and your family and Dale and his are in our
thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. His art is so energetic and positive. I'm sure it helped him fight for so long. He will be in my prayers.

Subject: [River in Spring - 7] : Next two impressions ...
Posted by: Dave Bull

Continued from [River in Spring - 6] | Starting point of the thread is [River in Spring - 1]

Another two impressions today. The first one is kind of inconsequential - just something to add some variance in the reflection of the rocky shore area. It'll make more sense when we're finished:

The next one is the one everybody has been 'waiting for' ...

If all goes well (no distractions!), there should be two more impressions coming along tomorrow ...

Matt teaching

I just spent the last three days assisting woodblock printmaker Matt Brown in a moku hanga workshop at Snow Farm -- the very workshop I took four years ago that got me launched into my moku hanga delirium. It was great to see Matt again and to watch him teach from this side of the four years that have passed since he first taught me. It was a wonderful group of students, too. It's always marvelous to watch a group of people who have never done moku hanga before go through the steps and come away with amazingly accomplished prints, all very unique. Here are the photos I took of the weekend.

Subject: Analysis of a transformation
Posted by: Georgina

I have been meaning to do this image for years. This block is 50x75cm. It is a blow up of a segment of a large print I did in 2004. I am planning this as key block and thinking about what I want to put in underneath. What will go in underneath will not be related to the top layer except thematically, I plan different imagary, I think. The idea behind it is about sliding identities and evolutions that one can undego throughout life. The imagery beneath may consist of patterns, icons, flowers, sea like flowing shapes, different shadows. I am not sure yet. This is my favourite part of printmaking. I have set off on a path of discovery and I don't know where I am going. I have not printed more of Saint Francis as I have ordered paper and some new inks and they have not arrived yet. There will be more on that one eventually.
