Well, here we go Baren members!

The Baren Summit 2010 will officially take place sometime in February 2010
at the Red Barn Art Center near Beatty Nevada. Exact dates to be
announced...everything to be announced...
As principal organizer my next steps are to:

1. Recruit heeeeeeeeeeeeelp!
If you are willing to help out with the organization of this darned thing
and/or during the conference with various tasks, please let me know OFFLIST
at whatdidIgetmyselfinto@mariarango.com

2. Recruit INSTRUCTORS and nail down programming.
There will be some compensation and some travel/lodging reimbursements for
instructors of full-fledged workshops, however if you would like to donate
your time, please let us know. At this time we can't promise ALL your costs
will be covered. Those of you who expressed interest in teaching a workshop
or giving a demonstration please let me know FOR SURE:

Demonstration/Workshop and Topic
Duration (from 2 hr demo to 1 day workshop)
Brief Outline, something sketchy that tells me what exactly we are planning

3. Make a tentative budget to nail down the cost-per-participant

4. Put up some web pages once I have all the information and make an
official signup list

For now that's it.
Please let me know in the next few days as I intend to start making web
pages next week. This will give everyone a whole year of planning.

Quincy Jones has started a petition to ask President-Elect Obama to appoint
a Secretary of the Arts. While many other countries have had Ministers of Art
or Culture for centuries, The United States has never created such a position.
We in the arts need this and the country needs the arts--now more than ever.
