Julio, are we also seeing that Escher is a left hander? I have no
excuse now. None whatsoever.

Thank you Gayle, for this website and terrific video and Escher working. A
leftie! They are coming out of the woodwork!

I have an Escheraria (named by our Rudolf Stalder years ago) woodblock
print series, based on a method used by Escher

Andrew, my self portrait with/as a tree does not have my face in it. It is a self portrait of my "inner" self..........with a tree. Sort of. Does that help any? Probably not!
Good luck!

If anyone is in the Los Angeles, California area before Feb 8, 2009, there
is a printmaking - woodcut specific show at the Hammer Museum in the
Westwood Village area.

Gouge: The Modern Woodcut 1870 to Now.

Good cross-section of artists. Unfortunately no catalog.

Julio - thank you so much for posting the link to the video of Escher at work. He is well known for his images but people often forget that he was an exceptional printmaker, working in lithography, woodcut and wood-engraving. I have a small original engraving of his and I rarely pass it without staring in absolute awe.

If you missed it, the link is:

It certainly made my day.

Whatever you celebrate during this season, may it be a very happy one.
