Gayle asked if there was a bokashi on the paper under my Mayflower
print:

No, it's just bad lighting. But a long bokashi is just where I'm
headed with this! Thanks for the kind words about my carving.
Unfortunately, I'm feeling like I need to carve it again facing the
other way, cuz the Mayflower went west to America and that's LEFT on
the piece of paper, so the darn thing should point left instead of
right. Maybe being too literal here, but a map is a map and west is
left. Argh!

Lynn, your coptic binding is my favorite kind of binding. I use one
for all my art notations. The thing I like most about it is that it
lies flat. Being a left hander is challenge enough for me,
especially when writing in bound journals and my writing hands is
always lying on the center where the pages are sewn/glued. Then I
discovered a journal with a coptic binding. You mentioned you didn't
like the floppiness of the binding, and you added straps. Does the
book still lie flat when opened? I like the look of the straps.

Subject: [Baren 37539] Blank digests ...

Due to some kind of programming error by yours truly (it seems more
than a month of testing wasn't enough!) the first run tonightof our
improved Mr. Digester program tonight, hiccuped slightly, and sent out
extra (blank) digests to some members.

Please just discard them; hopefully I can find the error before the
next Digest is due! Sorry for the trouble ...

Dear Maria,

Great news for 2010 and I have signed on............ 60-80F = about
25C right ..... perfect.

I like the bit about "If you teach then your travel will be taken care
of" !! I wish........ from Perth Australia to Nevada .... I wish !!
Just joking.... I have possible dates marked on my calendar already,
and can that far ahead..... by then I should have been able to "ditch"
my day job and be able to spend more time on my printmaking.

I have just returned from our country town of Bunbury three hours drive
south of Perth where I was invited to Open the South West Printmakers
exhibition last night. Great work from a small group of 12 ladies,
spread out in SW country towns printing in all disaplines. Several of
the group are art teachers in their own right, mostly in tertiary
education and so workshops are a great way of expanding their knowledge
and renewed disaplines. This is another group that I taught last year
moku hanga....... for them the access to tools and equipment and time
restraints is limited, but several have accessed our Baren site and one
has already used the Baren Mall, so thank you, Barbara for your
help...... the word is spreading.

I am certainly looking forward to another trip to America in 2010.

Cheers,

Jan
