Hi,

I seem to have solved my mailing problem by using the plain text
format. I just need to remember to go to format and check plaint text
every time I reply to a Baren list. The Mac is a delight after years
of using a PC.

I agree that Kathe Kollwitz probably planned the rough cut area to
mottle her print. However one can look at a piece of wood and see a
rough area and plan it as part of a print. One can also find a tool
that might give the effect. Either way it is a shallow cut or
shallower rough area on the block. Interesting question and it opens
up a new area to explore.

This is an exchange outside of Barenforum.

Four Oceans Press is now starting sign-ups for our new set of quarterly Hand-Pulled Print Exchanges.
‘The Classical Elements’ is made up of four themes: Earth, Water, Air and Fire.
Sign up for one or all of them. The first in the Series will be "Earth" our sixth
Hand-pulled Print Exchange... All the details are below :)

Theme: EARTH

Color: B/W or Color. Color is encouraged, but we love a good b/w image.

Image Size: At least 6” x 8” but no larger than 8.5” x 11”.

Paper Size: Paper must be no larger than 8.5” x 11”. It is OK if the image bleeds
off the edge of the paper.

Medium: Woodblock, Linoleum, Serigraph, Lithograph or Intaglio

Paper type: Any archival paper appropriate to your printing method can be used.

Print Deadline: October 15, 2008

A new type of exchange has been started on Four Oceans Press... It's not exactly what
the Baren is all about, however, as artists I'm sure there are some of you who also
might be really good photographers... Four Oceans Press is taking sign-ups for their
first 'Fine Arts Photography Exchange' with the theme of "movement". If you are
a photographer or know someone who is, it would be wonderful if you would pass on
the information for this Exchange.
