Mark,

My chop mark is a custom embosser, usually used for letter heads and
envelopes. It isn't ideal because you can only put the chop mark in the
corner of the paper, instead of any where on the sheet. But it works great
otherwise. You can order customized plates designed for either thin or thick
paper, depending on what you usually print on. The cheapest place I found
was Paper Source (www.papersource.com). Hope this helps.

Making your own chops can be a fun project. I have carved them from a variety of materials. I have made my own rubber stamps. I have also used laser print transfers for chops. I have them in various sizes to suit different sizes of prints. For embossing chops I etch (non-toxicly) the design into then end of a steel bar and then just use a hammer to apply it anywhere on the print I like. For details on how I made a variety of chops, go to my website and check out the "techniques" section.

Just email me off list if you have any questions.

Darrell - I've just realized what the problem must be - my domain
name has expired -I didn't receive a reminder to renew from them (??) and
unfortunately can't remember the domain service provider -Tucows is
trying to help ... what a pain this is! (it was working 2 weeks ago)
thanks to you and David H for letting me know..

you can do it with solarplates easily, make a relief
image and then cut them up. I am sure it will work,
you would have to double stick tape it to a piece of
wood to use it but think that would be no problem. If
you harden the plate well you can use it with
water-based inks as long as you do not leave it wet a
long time. I clean my plates with water with no ill
effects so know this will work.
somewhere in the archives there is a place in San
Francisco that makes them. I just forgot the name
Best to all,

If you are ever in San Francisco or the Bay Area there is a great chop
carver (Mr. Cui) at the Asian Art Museum. I work in the retail shop with
him there.
After the cost of the stone (which runs 12-40) the carving fee is 15 bucks
assuming the design isn't overly complicated. We are also able to ship
there.

To sweeten the pot, mr. Cui is also a trained woodcut artist from China, and
anybody who is familiar with modern Chinese woodcut knows it's a pretty
volatile political era. So there is nothing better than chatting about
woodcuts and chops with him.

Hi Louise,

I just did a 'whois' on your domain name and it says the domain is registered
with Tucows, but hosted with www.netfirms.com ...

Hope this helps,

Pampers also work well if you are out camping and don't have a place to take a shower. When they dry out, you can just moisten them with water.

Hi All,
Thanks to everyone in exchanges 34 and 35 and to the coordinators Mike and Mary. I love the prints and it is always so exciting to get those packages in the mail.
I bought one of the ball bearing barens from the mall and I hate it. I don't know if i'm the problem or if i got a bad one or what but some of the ball bearings get stuck and leave dark circles in my prints. they seem to mostly be the ones in the center. its a drag i spent that money for nothing. does anyone know how to fix them or what i might be doing wrong?

Exchange #34 is now uploaded! Mary Kuster coordinated and did an outstanding
job on the colophon.
Oh joy... check it out here: http://barenforum.org/exchange/exchanges.html

Exchange #35 should be reaching everyone by now and the web pages will be
uploaded very soon.
Thank you Mike Lyon for all your tireless work.

Exchange #36 is DUE May 1st.
Everyone get to printing, that's only five weeks from now. How time flies,
huh?
Don't forget to submit your print information, all reachable from the
Exchange 36 page
found here: http://barenforum.org/exchange/exchange_36/exchange_36.html

And finally, for those of you suffering from Exchange Withdrawal Syndrome
(EWS), Exchange #37 opens for business April 1st!
This is a THEMED Exchange, which means we need a theme!!
Let's go ahead and hear some ideas and I will tally votes. The exchange
sign-up page will open on time and we can continue to debate the theme after
sign-ups, but it is much more fun if we already know.
So!!

Themes, themes, themes...
It is the larger 'chuban' size, themes? anyone?

Since the Exchange Sign Up opens April 1st, I will suggest the first theme:
FOOLS (interpreted freely as "the fool", foolery, foolish, etc.)
Everyone is welcomed to suggest and vote. I'll keep track.

Happy printing!
Maria
