I know you dont hear from me very often- I am in awe of what everybody else has to offer, and have only had something to offer a couple of times. But I did finish my piggy prints before Xmas and will be mailing them out this week. It is amazing how long it took!
I hope everybody is having wonderful holidays.

Have a great year georga. I wrote to the Baren Council asking ther opinion
but haven't heard back yet. Bea
Bea, Gorgia and anyone else in California who wants to
work on this,,,
I think the council is happy to have you organize the
summit in 2009 at Aslimor (did I spell that right?) We
will all try to come if you guys fix a date. I think
it might be close enough to drive for us in
Oregon...105 miles south of San Francisco...if I
remember. I looked it up when the place was first
mentioned. We are a 12 hour drive from SF so doable in
one day if we want to arrive glassy eyed and
exhausted.
Many in our group can teach a mini class and we do
have some money we can put toward stuff but that will
have be decided by vote of all the organizers and the
council...go for it. Pick a week to do it, or several
and ask for response of who can and cannot attend at
that time...ask for who will teach a class and the
rest will just fall into place. Also we might have to
find a time when there is space available. Sherri and
Mike will be great resources as they did the
organization for the last summit, although the whole
council was involved.
We anxiously await the date so we can get it on our
calendars and start saving our money for a trip to
the Sunshine state. We will love to see you all again
and meet new people as well...we had about 35 at our
last summits, lets try for 50 in 2009.
my best to all
Barbara
Holiday greetings to all my friends at Baren and beyond........
I been away from the computer and email for a few days but just wanted to
let everyone know that the Chinese New Year exchange signup (Year of the
Rat) will close for good sometime later today.........
Also not sure if anyone noticed but in George Walker's book (Woodcut
Artist's Handbook) the Barenforum.org and the barenmall get a nice mention
in the list of printmaking clubs/organizations and suppliers .....hooray
for us !!!! What's interesting is that Mr. Walker's book is primarily
about the western style of printmaking (as compared to the traditional
japanese techniques)....
I second the motion for a Summit in California......Bea, Georga and
others....go for it !!!!

I have been working on the Year of the Rat exchange. This is the first time
I have used a solar plate for anything and it seems to be very easy to use.
I exposed the plate for 15 minutes on an overcast day, washed it out with
gentle scrubbing and got a very nice relief image.
