And I didn't even ask Brad to do that! :-)

I have received two more blocks since my last reminder so things are looking
up!
I'm currently attending my last festival of the season and just as soon as I
get back I will begin prep for the printing. Believe me I want to see what
this looks like most of all.
Schedule for printing is still a bit up in the air but I will update as I go
and also upload pictures on the website. I may be able to get it done in
December but early January is looking more realistic.

As far as missing blocks, we are now down to only 4 and if not received by
the time the presses begin rolling, I will just "hollow" the spots and print
without them. At this stage of the game, I will not seek substitute blocks
although I heartily appreciate offers from all who...well, offered!

Stay tuned...and pray for dry weather in Arizona!!! It's looking
baaaaaaaaad.

Maria

He is a great proponent of electro-etching. And unlike some, he does not try to hype the method and make a fast buck out of it. He is openly aware of the long history of electro-etching, and does not try to claim personal originality for it. That is very unlike certain high-profile folk in the field. In this respect, he seems to be an honest man.

He has some wonderful images on the site. I remember the one called 'Atlantis
Plan', but had forgotten who created it until now.

Charles, you've opened a can of worms there -- d'you fancy dishing the dirt on
the electro-etching villains? :-)

cheers,

Hello David,

This is neither the time nor the place for "dishing dirt" ... if there ever is a time and place for that. I just wanted to make complementary remarks about Cedric and give a heads-up to others who might be interested in electro-etching.

Cheers ..... Charles

Don't worry, it was a joke, hence the smiley! In any case I'm very impressed
with Cedric's site and have ordered a copy of his book. Whether or not I try
his methods it promises to be an interesting read.

cheers,

hi all
My exchange 34 prints are finished and have been for a while but they are still not dry. I used cobalt drier but I have had real problems with this ink. I don't think i will be using daniel smith ink in the future. I called them during the printing of the third color because the ink wasn't drying and the bottom layers of color seemed to be coming up all splotchy through the top layer they basically said it was some how my fault and maybe i need to take a printmaking class. it might be my fault but i don't know what i am doing wrong. The colors i used are ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, black and titanium white. 7 color reduction block print on rives lightweight paper. I used daniel smith inks for my three nudes print 5 colors printed wet over wet or semi wet and didnt have any problems yellow ocher and burnt sienna plus black and white. I printed some of my hibiscus prints with daniel smith inks and didnt add any drier and it took over a month to become dry to the touch and

had some bronzing in places. i dont know. anyway i am sorry they are taking so long i will ship them as soon as they are dry.

David,
I'm impressed with Cedric's site also. Let us know what you think of
the book when you get it - I'm thinking about ordering it too.

Hi Shireen,

He also has a free PDF download available -- very trusting! -- so it's
possible to read it before buying. Actually it's good enough that the PDF is
very likely to persuade people to buy.

Viza... I also had a very difficult time with my 3 color prints drying for the #34 exchange, so can only imagine the difficulty with more colors. I used Akua so had other problems.

However, I've found that if I put my prints in a warm place they dry much faster. I have a homemade lightbox... really just a stand with thick glass and two 60 watt lightbulbs underneath. The heat generated from those bulbs really shortcuts drying times. I lay the prints flat, layered with lightweight scrap paper (actually recycled pages from my husband's financial reports). I rotated the prints each day, putting the top ones on the bottom. You might want to try something like that for future dryings.
