I have not received anything from Baren since Nov 21. Is it Baren or is it
my e-mail?

Nancy,
I think the baren is having a rest..all I am getting
are the blog notifications. Maybe we have said it
all..,,or maybe not.

I have been remiss this last year in posting as have
had some health issues that are thankfully resolved. I
admit to just deleting most of the messages without
even reading them. Sad but true and I think when
people get busy many do this. I think we are still
interested in the baren and in printmaking, but there
are so many opportunities for infomation on the
internet now, which was really not the case when the
Baren started almost 10 years ago...that's right we
are nearly 10.

Also the idea that everything has to be relief print
related certainly stops people from mentioning
printmaking successes for fear it is not appropriate
for the list. We always want to hear about anyone's
success. As printmakers we are the odd man out in art
circles to begin with, so support of each other is
just as important as technical information, not that
we want the baren to become a chat fest.

So on this happy holiday of overeating turkey and
dressing lets get some discussions started. This forum
is a great place to discuss and perhaps we need to be
reminded we can use it for that. I will start with
the Chuck Close exhibit at the Portland Art
Museum...lots of printmakers here in Portland so how
many have seen this and what did you think of it?
Would this work lose impact if it were smaller? It is
impressive...amazing may be a better word. I am going
to go see it again so will report if my second visit
gives me a different reaction.
My best to all
Barbara

Hi all,

I'm selling a copy of "Colour Woodcuts" by John Platt on eBay at the moment. I already have my own copy (which I'm not selling).

I've a couple of other woodblock books I've doubled up on this year for various reasons which I'll also be selling over the next couple of weeks, including a later edition Frank Morely Fletcher Woodblock Techniques and and excellent condition copy of Toshi Yoshida's Woodblock Printmaking.

Here's the link to the Platt book:

Cheers,
