Another 2 cents worth! Juried shows and fairs take an immense amount of
time, energy and just plain hard work ......definitely not for the faint of
heart. They do however, insure that your work won't be next to imported
pictures comprised of butterfly wings arranged in a likeness of the Taj
Mahal or macaroni covered light fixtures done in day-glo hues ..... and yes
I'm speaking from experience.
Back to those juried shows ...... did them for years and they were
profitable ... though, in those days most of my work was done in clay ....
one of a kind bowls, platters, and sculptural pieces......very few prints.
And I can't stress enough the need to be selective in the shows you enter
.... know the venue....know who the jurors are. Above all else be able to
shrug off a "We are sorry....".

Hi All - I'm in Hampshire (UK) right now and was expecting to get to Art in Action today but torrential rains fell here and were apparently even worse in Oxford - did you get there, Andy, and how was it?
Harry French,if you're viewing emails -will you be around the 1st week in Sept ? I haven't had a chance to phone you yet (was mostly in France) and now with friends in beautiful rural Hampshire surrounded by grouse, pheasants, deer and rabbits-have been eating and painting the most marvelougs figs grown by a nearby eccentric lady farmer - just finished photographing her British White prize cows. Paris was fab with the Musee Marmottan being a highlight for me as I contemplated the unusual and stunning Monet waterlilies in a quiet venu - the Musee D'orsay is a disaster these days and a place to avoid as they continue with an ugly reno....
