I have been giving demonstrations of Japanese woodblock at the Brooklyn
Botanic Garden's Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival) for ten years
now... How is that possible?! First year they put me in a windy field and
said 'print'! Then I got a tent, then I got a patio, then I got a small
room, then I got a small room and a small show, then I got a large room and
a scheduled talk. Now I am happy to report, I have a one month exhibition in
the large Steinhardt Conservatory Gallery, which has just been renovated.
Please come visit the show if you are in the area, it is a great show, and
the gardens look wonderful now.

Sakura Matsuri, the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival
April 28 and 29, 2007 (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
I will give gallery talks at 11:00 and 2:30 both days,
with a demonstration of woodblock printing from 3:30 to 4:15.
There is an $8 entrance fee for the Festival, and be warned, it is crowded!
If you simply want to enjoy this retrospective of my last ten years of
printmaking, please visit this weekend or during the week. I will be there
this Saturday mid-day.
The gallery is free with admission to the Botanic Garden, and the Garden is
free before noon and on Tuesdays. April is beautiful there, and the 1915
Japanese Garden is one of the oldest Japanese gardens outside Japan. The
Brooklyn Museum is next door, with Judy Chicago now on view. Take the 2 or 3
train to Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum. For more information visit

April,
Congratulation on your current exhibition at The Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Wonderfull prints.
It seems everything fits very well, the place is lovely. I used to frequent the garden when I stayed in New York for three years in the late nineties. The theme of your prints goes together with the cherry blossoms there. Even your name also is perfect for the spring festival.

Rahman Mohamed, Malaysia.
