Hi All-
I found Gearhart's work better than Bauman's (sacrilege!) - gorgeous
sense of composition - I spent hours I couldn't afford looking for
more and came across this great site which gives nice enlargements of
the many interesting printmakers it features.
maybe some of you people have seen it :
if you click on 'selling' then
'catalogue' some lovely stuff comes
up altho' ptgs are mixed in with the prints. Some of the prices
quoted are amazingly high. Rather like Margaret Patterson is
Charlotte Rollins
- another v.painterly woodcut artist who reminds me of our own
Milne's watercolours (one example of his work there) Luigi Risst
appears to be very prolific
woodcut artist -not painterly but have a strange crossweave
pattern as if they're printed on canvas?? has anyone come across
William Ponder's
' Notes to the Hanga Printmaker'? Colwell's 'Snowbirds' apparently
a rare print is charming - has anyone heard of her? I didn't realize
that there was
such a plethora of good woodcut artists in early 20th century
America. Going to 'prints' on this site produces yet more.
