David,
WOW. thosre recipes are interesting. How I wish I had had the one for
block printing ink to roll out when I was in baja last year without any
source to get block printing inks. they have tempera all over the place!!!
I will be experimenting down south this winter.
I am speculationg on this little block that I was thinking on cutting
reduction style. Could I not print the image and transfer it to the back of
this block and use a jig to print my image in 2 colors??? than i would not
have to "detroy the original start. I could than carve it out for a one
color print. Multi use for the plate or maybe plates????
Oh and dish washing liquid has glycerin in it. Or at least most brands do.

Maria et al:
I've discovered a trick that scrapbookers do with tranparencies. You can
use the type for dry erase markers, lazer printers (usually really
expensive) or the type designed to write on (usually the cheapest) just
don't use the ones designed for inkjet printers!
Anyway, scrapbookers use it to make scratch off lettering that they can
position onto scrap book pages and burnish onto it. Guess where else it
burnishes easily! You know, the old wooden spoon as baren also multi-tasks
as a burnisher...
of course the scrapbookers reverse the images and words before printing
onto the transparency so that they can be read after burnishing, but of
course woodcut printers do not want to reverse...Patti P-C
"citrasolve, wintergreen or the non-acetone nail polish give me
less of a headache,"
Sorry for the second post in one day but I had to respond to the above...
the reason the wintergreen doesn't give you a headache is because it has a
natural analgesic effect...I've had get rid of a headache while I was
working with it...it will also make you a little high. Since the wood
tends to absorb it I find that it affects me a little while I'm carving --
even days later!
