Regarding Marissa's work - I went to your site and your blog and
find it just lovely. How long have you been working in printmaking?
It sounds like you're doing some art festivals, too?

I hope you'll be in an exchange I am in - I would be delighted to have a
piece
that you've created.

:)Jennifer

[Baren] Daily DigestMaybe if you glued all those nude exchange prints together, painted black splotchy circles on it and glued straw around the outside to make a frame, you could get someone to hang it in a museum. At least then it would be big enough for someone to notice it. Or you could put bugs crawling over it, or something a little bit risque, instead of everything being nicey nicey. We are talking about fine art here, not the three bears.

[Baren] Daily DigestYou could glue all those nude exchange prints together and paint some bugs on it and call it "D.T's". Isn't that what they used to say people saw when they had too much to drink? You could frame it with conduit. Then they wouldn't accuse us of copying Anselm Kiefer.

Yes, that would be great to have the Nude exchange in the Dallas Museum!

Hi everyone. I'm new to the list and have been lurking a while. I'm a
woodturner, and recently have been experimenting with making prints from
blocks that I have turned on a lathe.

My first attempts were pretty awful. I was not creating the sort of
textures that I was hoping for. But one day when cleaning my roller and
blocks I 'discovered' (new to me at least - I have had no training in
art or print making) that I was getting interesting effects with a
technique similar to frottage, except done by rolling rather than
rubbing. That is, I was rolling a slightly inky roller over sections of
the paper with the woodblock underneath. I decided that these results
might make an interesting background effect, and have then gone on to
print a black foreground using conventional techniques.

I have posted my first results on flickr:

I'm curious as to whether one would consider these to be prints, or
whether there is a more descriptive term for the technique?
