I've seen the Art.o.Mat vending machine at the Whitney Museum and think it's
a possible advertising idea- a good gimmick to look into . One never
knows....

machine", says Matt Hand, an employee at the Washington store who is making
woodblock prints to sell."

I was thinking of doing that at one time, but having to make or buy
all the little containers put me off the idea. I do think it's a
pretty cool idea, though...

Greetings Bareners,
I thought that transposing animals from our cathedral into woodprints was a fine idea until a verger informed me in the summer that there are nearly three thousand of them!
This particular print is of a griffin (a winged eagle headed lion) based upon the 12th century black marbled font.

Well....two thousand and ninety odd to go.
Kind regards,

Murilo,

Here's my try at your translation:

"He who has not gained some expertise, experience, or reputation in his
field has no credibility with others." i.e., why would you believe
anything I would have to say about rocket science when I have no real
knowledge in that area? (I would have to ask the resident husband about
anything in that field and the answer would be so long I would fall
asleep before it ended - LOL)

BTW I found a note the other day with your name and address on it. Was
I supposed to send you something? (Well, there goes my credibility!!)

Happy Printing,
Sharri

Murillo,
Your posts come in to my computer dated December 1998 so I have to hunt for them and usually see them weeks after you send them...can you change the time on your own computer to the current date??
Best to you,
Barbara

Tony Kirk called today to discuss several things of no interest to Baren
plus something which WILL be of interest to many!

The Center for Contemporary Printmaking hosts a biannual "Miniature Print
Exhibition" - This is by far the BEST juried show I've never gotten into --
BEST because so many good things have come out of my unsuccessful attempts
to get prints juried into this show including a number of teaching gigs at
CCP, sales, exhibition of several of my woodcuts at the Katonah Museum, and
inclusion of my work in the CCP's "Ink from Wood - Two Traditions" exhibit
highlighting Japanese and Western techniques in printmaking and featuring
artists Richard Bosman, Chuck Close, Jim Dine, Karen Kunc, Helen
Frankenthaler, Alex Katz, Mike Lyon, Robert Mangold, Ben Shahn, Yasu
Shibata, April Vollmer, Neil Welliver, and many other familiar artists.

It's a great show and a great venue (maybe this time one or two of my prints
might even make it IN)!!!

CCP should have their prospectus available on-line pretty soon at
http://contemprints.org -- in the meantime
here's some information:

"International Miniature Print Exhibition" submission deadline: January 31,
2007

Juror: David Kiehl, Curator of Prints, Whitney Museum of American Art

Maximum image area: 4 square inches (2x2, 1x4, etc)

Maximum paper size: 6x11 inches

Entry fee: $45 (non-members) for up to three prints (submit five each of
three prints -- this is an exhibition and sale)!

Complete prospectus can be obtained by emailing your request and mailing
address to contemprints@concersent.net or by phone or postal mail to

Center for Contemporary Printmaking

Mathew Park,

229 West Ave

Norwalk, CT 06850

Phone:203.899.7999

Fax:203.899.7997 ::

Email: contemprints@conversent.net

As I said, "the best show I never got into"!!!
