Call for Entries and Save the Date
Show your work and show the world our artists' concern for the environment!
The American Print Alliance is organizing an open portfolio of prints,
paperworks and artists' books by artists who are 2006 subscribers to
Contemporary Impressions or members of our allied councils. Soap Box Prints:
For a Cleaner Environment will accept landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes,
prints of fauna and flora, conservation and preservation, consumption,
pollution, global warming, genetic diversity and endangered species, etc.
Non-toxic and less-toxic methods and materials are highly encouraged. Send
two impressions: one for sale to benefit Alliance programs, one to travel in
the exhibition - offered at cost with no exhibit fee to environmental
groups. Administrative fee: $5 or $20, subscribe to our journal when you
enter and save $15! Deadline: November 15. Please read the full prospectus
and download the entry form at our website, www.PrintAlliance.org.

You're invited! Printmaking Dialogue Day will be October 14, 2006 at the
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Our annual Saturday get-together,
filled with conversation and demos, has been a regular event around the
South since 1997. Everyone is invited to help create a closer sense of
community among the area's printmakers, including students in print and
design arts, our future professional colleagues. Free, suggested donation
$10, students $5. All attendees are encouraged to participate in the "Free
for All" mini-print exchange (paper size 4 x 6", bring 12 and take home 10
different prints). Drop off your work for Soap Box Prints and subscribe to
our journal if you haven't already! Driving directions will be posted in the
Calendar in our Resources section at www.PrintAlliance.org. Please RSVP to
director@printalliance.org so we can plan enough coffee and bagels.
If you haven't yet subscribed to Contemporary Impressions, the journal of
the American Print Alliance, you don't have to wait! You could be enjoying
the best summer reading right now: the current issue has articles by or
about Juanita Tumelaire, April Flanders, Bonnie Baxter, Brian Kelly, Nancy
Campbell and more. The Fall issue will include Vinita Voogd, Brian Jones,
the late Erena Rae and a wood engraving by Marsha Sweet. Remember that
members of our councils receive a discounted price of $30 (instead of $37, a
savings of about 20%) and full-time students pay only $15. Find the
subscription form at www.PrintAlliance.org.

I'll be at the Holiday Inn and am renting a car. I pick up the car on
Sunday at about 4:00pm at Enterprise. It is a compact but I assume it will
have room for two or three more. I'm looking forward to seeing you all.
Bea Gold
Georga, will you try to meet me at the Enterprise counter? Bea
Hi Sharri, I am looking for some information. My daughter, Midge, is
flying in to Portland at about 5:00pm on Saturday the 19th. We'll be
traveling up north for about a week but I thought if the timing is right, it
might be fun to pick her up and bring her to the dinner at McMenamin's
Edgefield if the time and place work out. She would be able to meet some of
the Bareners. Please let me know what you think. Bea
Summitteers....have fun at Sharri's.......wish I could join you
guys....keep the emails coming during the
summitt week ....
Cut ! Print ! and most important....have a blast....
