The wood is here! The wood is here!

I decided on cherry plywood again, so it will be the same as last time. Have
the design all picked out and am now just looking for the first day below
115 F so I can work outside in the sanding and cutting. Those two tasks make
too much of a mess in the studio and it is simply too hot outside, but I
think we will dip to a chilly 107 later this week (might even get some rain
in the process). Anything below 110 and I'm okay outside sanding.

Will keep everyone updated and take pictures. Shouldn't be long before
everyone receives their coveted piece.

Maria

Subject: [Baren 31317] Okamoto-san's web pages ...
Send Message: To this poster

I sent a note the other day about Ryusei Okamoto's new web pages
showing the (ongoing) construction of his latest print:
http://ryusei.nobody.jp/diary-1.htm

Seems quite a few people have visited the page, and he asks me to say
'thanks' for that ...

He also asked if there was perhaps a way that some of the [Baren]
members can help him a little. He is making these pages by himself, and
is concerned about the quality of the English.

>> Although making the text in English is not easy for me, it is very
>> interesting . So, I will try. I believe the new pages have some
>> educational value and would make people outside Japan understand how
>> to make woodblock print.
>>
>> I also have a plan to make a text which shows how to print in English.
>> It would be my great pleasure to get suggestions on corrections to
>> English. It would be very helpful
>> for my work ! I really need it. I hope the text will become better
>> little by little.

Anybody got a bit of spare time for this? His email address is:
ryusei@tbi.t-com.ne.jp and if some of you would be willing to help him
fix up the English on his pages, it seems he would very much appreciate
it.

Thanks so much, Maria!

This is my first Baren project so I am a little hesitant that I'll not be up
to the task.... I'm looking forward to your project immensely. Thanks so much
for making it happen.

Greetings all,
My prints are still hogging the 'My newest print!" section of the Baren website so I'll publish my latest one in the forum where it won't be as conspicuous. The print is of the giant fish that God created to swallow Jonah (from the Old Testament). It is transposed from stained glass high up on Lincoln Cathedral's east window.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/h.french1/giantfishprint.htm
There are also two web pages of sketchbook studies drawn in the cathedral for the print which may be of interest.
Regards,
Harry
ps An Alphabet exchange theme at some later date is fine for me : why not extend it to a Font which would include lower case letters, punctuation, characters and numbers : need it be an English alphabet or font?
All the best,
Harry
