I have been wondering and looking for the way to post also. Thanks CJChapel. I now have the contact info also. I have been very much enjoying the technical discussions as I recently started carving on plywood, found it rather nasty on my tools, have upgraded my tools and now have some pieces of basswood awaiting my attention. In the meantime I was fortunate to see a show of several pieces of woodcuts done by Gustave Baumann. Not Japanese technique but amazing to the neophyte. I found my nose pressed to the glass analyzing various areas for the gouge type and size and the sequence of colors laid down. The comments on pigments and rice paste are also useful though I suspect I will want re-discussion with patience and forbearance from those who have really gotten it-- after I have more experience. The summit sounds quite wonderful. A new goal to work toward! When the next one is held I want to be ready with cash set aside for travel. Thank you all for sharing information so generously. Glenna

Hi Bea and Georga,

Thanks for replying about carpooling. Sounds like we should wait until
everyone's plans and schedules get more firmed up and then talk again.
Meanwhile, I feel relieved to know that there's interest in sharing car
costs. I'll post about it again in July and we'll see what everyone thinks.

If you like Baumann's work, I recommend "Hand of a Craftsman" which includes not only a great collection of GB's work, and his history, but also a step by step illustrated explanation of his process. I got to see a great display of his work at the Chicago Institute a few years ago, and there is nothing like seeing the work in person. My hero.

Jeff... I agree... it's an excellent book and the photos on the step by step are very clear.
