I am catching up on some reading and came across Paul De Jode's query about rice paste. I make a thin sauce of rice flour and cold water in the top of a double boiler. Then I pour the appropriate amount of BOILING water over it all at once, and stir. Then cook for awhile. This produces a very clear paste with no lumps. Sorry I do not remember the amounts of flour and water. There are a number of things you can add for preservative so it lasts a little bit longer than a day or two, and possible keep the bugs and rodents away from the prints if you are planning to store them for a long time.

Sorry to see my favorite listserve degenerate into a whole bunch of blogs, but oh, well, that's progress, I guess.
