If any of you are in the Minneaopois area for the next month please stop by St. Marks Episcopal Cathedral (apparently it is accross the way from the Walker). I am driving up to hang a show there today.
Maria, sounds like you are having a good fair. I'd love to be able to get down there to see it - and to get away from this weather!

Received my prints.
Thank you all!

Hi, everyone,
Exchange 28 has unfortunately had a few last minute
cancellations, and we no longer have persons on our waiting
list. Is there a Baren member who would wish to join us at the
last minute for Exchange 28? It is a chuban size (10 x 7.5
inches, 25.5 x 19cm) and will be a lovely group of prints!
Information on the exchange is here:
The prints should arrive in the Chicago area May 1, so you'll
need to be able to develop your print quickly. I hope that
you'll consider joining us!
Please contact me at .
Thank you!
Sharen
My set of Mythical Beasts arrived yesterday and I cannot praise them too
much! There are outstanding over the top prints from the experts, and nice
ones from everyone else. Thanks to each and every participant, I will
treasure this set of prints and my kids will inherit them someday.
This exchange is truly a 'spur' to me to step up my efforts in Moku Hanga.
Now I must begin design my cairn concept, (can't cut until I receive
Maria's block) consider an arboreal theme ,design my Iraqi print, continue
working on the book project with Robin M, and oh, yes, I've got a one
person show coming up sometime this year...
Greetings to all the new arrivals among our midst- may you design, print,
cut well, and prosper...
Carol, very busy in Sacramento

Hello again.
A while back I had asked if any of you have ever used high quality pastels, ground up for your pigments, in moku hanga. Well, I wanted to comment on my attempt.
The manticore for exchange #27 was Printed using Sennelier pastels that I ground up with a mortor and pestal, then soaked in alcohol.
I had mixed feeling about this. The greens were awful, very grainy. But the lighter blue color spread nicely.
Over all my feelings are, if you have the money, buy the best raw pigment you can. There is clay or something in pastels, that can be tricky. i have a few pounds of good dry pigment that I will be using from now on. If you need a odd color in a pinch, it could save your neck though.
The fact that it was my first real attempt at moku hanga, definately had something to do with the outcome of the Manticore. I am learing fast. Thanks for all of your comments, suggestions and extensive knowledge. You all rock!
Robert
