Angee,
I have seen it on both sides but usually on the right below the signature an inch or so. I have also seen it on the bottom of the paper..so maybe it depends on what kind of a chop the artist has and how the tool can move around on the paper, some are attached for embossing and can only come into the paper edge a few inches. I am not aware of any rule...but someone out there probably has one.
Best to all,
Barbara
YEA, MARIA! Another puzzle project! It's too bad we didn't start
sooner, we could have printed it at the summit this summer - HA! Like
we would have had time for that. For those of you asking yourself,
"What ever happened to that durned summit, anyway?" The answer is,
"We're working on it." I have promised Barbara that I will leap into
action this week. The construction workers are supposed to finish this
week and I'm sure they are serious this time because this morning we
see that the portapotti has been removed from the front yard. Maybe
now I can get something done without all these men underfoot. We are
just about moved back into the house (out of the studio) and are almost
back to normal, whatever that may be. Of course, I can't FIND anything
- I have moved things around so much trying to find the perfect spot
for it. I look like a blur as I search for something as simple as a
teaspoon. Anyway - forward progress on the summit should be evident in
about 2 weeks.
Stay tuned & make your plans now,
Sharri
Hey, gang! Just returned from teaching last week's Connecticut
moku-hanga workshop (had a GREAT time -- will write more after I've
caught up a bit) and realize that sign-up for Baren's 29th exchange
is scheduled to begin in just under two weeks! Eeeegad!
#29's an OBAN-size THEMED exchange and we haven't yet discussed what
you'd like the 'theme' to be -- I'll need to set it before the
exchange sign-up can begin April 1... SOoooo? Let us have your
idea(s) what the theme ought to be for this exchange -- I'll compile
your 'votes' and with any luck at all a consensus can be reached over
the next week or so of discussion.
Thanks for your input!

Already done.
How about:
In Support Of My Favorite Cause
i.e.
Breast Cancer
Down Syndrome
Cancer
AIDS
DNC
RNC
Save The Whales
Project Earth
Etc..
Might be entertaining and we could do extras for the cause itself to use as
fund raisers, etc..

Hi all,
Connie Pierson from Spokane, WA here...
It's been awhile since I've posted, but I read the posts everyday.
Between house remodeling, SeaCamper remodeling (it's a 1970's vintage, very
unique houseboat), trying my hand at encaustic, working a boring 40 plus
hours a week, I can't not make room in the day for checking the goings on!
I have gone back through the past exchanges and thought it might be sort of
helpful to see the themes in a quick list.
The first few exchanges don't seem to have had themes
(please correct me if I'm wrong about that) so I will begin with excgange
#4.
It was "Self Portrait"
Then there were...
Ju nin, to iro
The Comedy of Life
Endangered Species
911 Firemen Tribute
Flora
Music
Moku Hanga
War & Peace
Shunga
Surimono
Influential Printmaker
Dreams & Visions
Mythical Beasts -All hanga-
It would seem to me that the Nude would be a first. Which would be my first
vote.
I also thought "Transportation" could be interesting considering all of the
modes of it.
Well, I hope after such a long absence since last chiming in I hope all of
you don't mind if I ring on this theme idea :o)
First I cannot believe we have done 28 exchanges....this is quite an accomplishment for our group.
I like the idea of a cause. However, I do think it is hard to come up with an image that would incorporate the work I am currently doing and we would all have to agree on the cause ...that would be the deal breaker. There are as many causes as there are members.
On the other hand I was enchanted by Gayle's discription of her cartoons and the backwards writing.... What if we had a them of cartoons or say the Funny papers or comic books? This seems like it could be hugely broad but quite interesting. I have never even remotely considered doing a cartoon so it would really be a challenge.
It could be political or aimed at children or just some cute thing. I almost went crazy thinking of the 10 people 10 visions exchange...that was really hard for me, but even I think I can come up with a cartoon of some sort...and I have never carved words so that would be a new experience. And I think one could get a cause in there someplace....
My 2 cents worth.
Best to all,
Barbara
Yes, a cartoon exchange! What a good idea, Barbara!

Hey everybody, Maria's doing it again. Come-on, lets all sign up for the
second MCPP! Her theme choice of cairns is most interesting and I for one
can't wait to see what what everyone else will design. I realize that not
all of our some three hundred or so list members may be interested or have
the time to do this project, but holy cow folks, this is such a fun one that
more of you ought to consider it.

Thanks for the cheering section, Carol!
So far 37 signed up and going on strong a mere day after announcing. Should
be a hell of a "pile of rocks"!
I'm thinking maybe a mini-get-together in Vegas to help print and celebrate
the Great Baren Cairn (I just renamed the project, it's okay, I can do that
:-)
