I have enjoyed the dog prints that have arrived, without a real dog. It is
fun! Mine will have a dog if the plates I am carving work out. I got me a
new toy for Christmas and am using it for the first time on my year of the
dog plates. Number one is still being worked on, between holiday stuff! I
got an electric carver and so far I must say it is wonderful.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy year of the Dog to every
one.

I got prints too! Today, from Robert Simola and Brad Robinson. What
fantastic gifts these are. Very creative work, thank you, thank you both!
My current goal is to mail my prints by Jan 30th. They are sitting by my
side right now.

Wow Marilynn,
an electric carver? Have I been in the stone ages? I don't know if I've seen
one. Do you have a link to show a picture of it?
Our daughter (10 years) got a leather carving kit for Christmas. I stole a
small piece and cut a tulip design into it. It felt amazingly soft. What a
treat. It's sloppy work, but it gave me a 5 minute creation fix just to try
it. I rolled ink on it and made 4 tiny prints. Ummm, she likes it too ;)
But, will probably make something traditional like a belt and won't end up
inking it when she's finished.

well, my little secret....
it isn't the block, it is that the image is made with masking tape so it is actually a collorgraph...but still a relief print. I roll the oil based ink on...water based ink lifts off the tape every time. Too bad, but true.
I agree, the numbering system is stupid but seems we are sort of stuck with it.
Best to all,
Barbara

Never fear, Annie F! The faithful dogs of my son and grandson always
cheerfully offer themselves up for models, so while my card will be
unforgivably, literally on thematic target, (this year at least) I also
enjoy any and all divergent, creative, paths other folk may take/have Taken-
"Upward facing dog" has also arrived in my mail box and it is most amusing.
What a great crew you all are. The season's blessings on each and every one
of you,
Faithfully,

P.S. I can understand why Carol Lyons has gently complained about the
confusion over three or four Carols on the list. This is one reason I always
sign my posts "Carol in Sacramento".
year of the DOG years.
The subject of the block is one that is often seen in Jewish folk art and
in Haggadot from which mine came. Literally it is a hunting scene with dogs
chasing rabbits. But it is an allegory which refers to Jews being chased from
place to place.
They are printed and should go in the mail at the end of this week.
