Hi, Murilo --
Traditional Japanese printmaking (moku-hanga) is quite different from
traditional Western relief printmaking in that
* water is the only solvent (no turps, mineral spirits, lacquer
thinners, etc),
* pigment is mixed up in water and paste (not oil),
* pigment is brushed into the block (not rolled),
* papers are registered using kento (these are to be multi-block, multi
color prints),
* a baren is used for printing (not a press),
* etc.
The intent of exchange #27 is to assemble a suite of prints from 30 artists
who all employed traditional Japanese printing materials and techniques to
produce their edition. Substituting water-based inks (or house paint) and
rolling them out onto the relief surface is NOT acceptable.
Hope that helps!
