Hey Barbara
THis is from your Computer dummy!!!!
WHAT NEW forum? Are you talking about the BLOG, which is also a mystery to me???????
What is happening around here anyway?????
Confused in Hurricane Alley,
Jeanne
Good to hear from many of the members of baren welcoming me!
I logged onto quite a few of your personal websites and surfed through the
forum and was really impressed with the talents of the members of baren. I
know I will learn a lot from all of you. I think I will try to be involved
with the next exchange although I'm sure the vacancies fill up fast. Nice
to hear from you Sue Salsbury from Waterloo! I come from Osage, IA, only
one short hour away! Maybe we will cross paths sometime.

I think we were talking about two versions of the digest...not the forum, and just used the wrong word...typical when one's head is swiveling like mine is. I am having an exhibition here in Sept and the closer it gets the harder it is for me to speak in full sentences.
I have not figured out the blog yet...but maybe after September I can do so.
best to all,
Barbara
Hey Barbara
Here is another one who has not figured out what the heck the "blog" is or is'nt?????
What is wrong with the good old fashioned e mail.????? At least I have that one mastered, well, sort of?????
Frustrated in Hurricane Alley

Add my name to the blog illiterate list. And just when I was getting the
hanga of the computer.
As far as the ATOM mentioned --ditto.
I think I'll manage.

Thanks Lori, and I hope we will meet someday, maybe at the next Summit????
Sue and I will be there together. Hope you can make it. This group is pretty wonderful (in spite of that dreaded "blog" thingie!!!!!

There is a link on the white sidebar at the right of the main blog page
that explains much about the whole thing & why....while it may seem
similar to posting an email...it is really more like doing a website
update and in a lot more efficient way. Except you do it yourself ! With
the forum posts we are not capable of sending images...with the blogs you
can.... and easily as many have already demonstrated. If you make a
mistake you can go back, edit or delete your entry and start all
over.....the updated version replaces the original.
The blog update feed that David put together sends out a daily post to the
entire Baren list via email so that subscribers can be aware when there
are new entries in the Baren blog pages......not only that but David has
also expanded the search so that we also track entries for all the
personal printmaking blogs for Baren members listed.
IMO the main discussion should continue to occur on the main forum
list....with the blog used as a place to display images, make
announcements on a wider scale, comment on members work, etc.....
Remember, the baren posts get read only by subscribed Baren members
(unless someone is reading the archives a day or two later) but the blog
entries are available to the entire world....immediately !
If you have any questions about using the blog let me know....
thanks....Julio Rodriguez (Skokie, Illinois)
Well, if it makes anyone feel better (or worse ;-)
I'm not exactly computer dumb but don't really care for the new blog-fad
going on. For one thing, it makes people go to the web and read blog entries
rather than getting an email on the desktop; just seems more personal to get
the email, even through a forum. Look at the Baren blog and look at the past
few days activities in the forum. Everyone's gone a bloggin' ...and there's
an echo in the forum.
The other reason is that blogs seem to me like everyone carrying on their
own monolog and there is not as much interaction. What can I say, to put
things in prespective I'm not a fan of web-only-based forums either. I just
ain't got the time to go surfing around for people's conversations.
I have blogs pictured like a sort of a collection of bulletin boards pasted
up between Pluto and Jupiter. Everyone gets to have one and they can all be
connected and there are little tidbits that we can download via news feed...
and while many folk before didn't get to have their own bulletin board in
the universe before, it's still a heck of a long way for me to get out there
and see what the commotion is all about.
Now, when things get to my email box on earth, then I look at (most of)
them. Call me a crazy hermit.
