Hi,

I'm getting ready to order a set of good woodblock tools from the Baren Mall
and am confused as to which brand to purchase. Can anyone tell me if the
quality of these two manufacturers of tools is the same? And is there any
difference in the cutting - carving characteristics between these two
brands? Why would I want to purchase one brand over the other?

I'll be using these tools mostly on Cherry plank.

There is no real difference, just a personal choice. Both of these manufacturers have excellent tools.

Thanks Barbara,

I thought that might be the case, it seems from the photos that there is
just a slight difference in the handles.

On a similar note, are the professional two part tools that McClain's sells
the Shimizu Hamono brand, the Michi Hamono brand, or a third different
brand?
