Dave, and everyone -- it is my pleasure. I love to type, I love to
edit. It was a job made for me. :-)

Connie,
How fun to hear you mention Jeanette Kirishian - she is an artist
member of Print Arts Northwest (aka Northwest Print Council), of which
Barbara Mason and I are Past Presidents). It is a wonderful
organization covering all the NW states including AK and HI, Alberta
and BC. Any of you out there who live in the NW - please consider
applying for membership the next time work is juried, which I think is
Oct. But, you can keep track of the details and familiarize yourself
with the org at www.printartsnw.org. Jeanette does some pretty
fantastic work!

Cheers,
Sharri

Hello to all the Baren Forum printmakers.....

I am asking for a volunteer to assist me in handling the mall....we are busier than we were four years ago when it started and I am a lot busier also...what I need is help.

This job will involve receiving the orders and processing them and sending them to Japan to be filled. Then advising me that it has happened. There are of course a few exceptions that will need to be handled but they are not hard. Processing the orders involves calling them into an 800 number, following the prompts and putting in the numbers. This puts the money into our account in Oregon, a state where there is no tax, which is why there is no tax on the mall. Then forwarding the orders to the appropriate vendor. I do think it needs to be someone who lives in the United States so we can be assured the 800 phone number will work well. Any visa numbers are destroyed as soon as an order is processed for safety. I think you can be annonymous if you wish, as the mall manager does get a fair amount of email.

At the current time the mall manager handles all the money and is treasurer for Baren
1.Orders, pays for, stores and distributes cases and special paper for the mall (Yamaguchi and Iwano paper only) and paper sample catalogs. Sometimes we have other things stored in Oregon and you occasionally will find an item shipped from here.
2.Processes orders
3.Deposits checks and mony orders
4.Handles any returns, which are far and few between but it does happen
5.Handles payments to Japan for Matsumura-san, Iwano-san, Yamaguchi-san, Misawa-san (sizing of paper), Goto-san (bamboo sheaths) and the Kulkhide baren orders (these are the real expensive ones)
6.Tries to keep everything straight which would be impossible without the help of Sadako, our wonderful translator in Japan.

The whole of this has grown and I really need a bit of help. I think it will take less than one hour a week of someone's time. It needs to be someone who will do it daily or at the very least one day a week. I admit I tend to let it pile up and ashamed of myself...but that is my life. This is why I am asking for a volunteer to assist me. Please reply off list or on the list, I will gratefully answer any questions.

Your faithful mall manager
best to all,
Barbara

Yes she does :-) I wish there were some of her works on the web so I could
share with the rest of the group. But unfortunately there isn't any that
I've ever seen.
