They have arrived and WOW! What a nice group of prints. My entire family gathered around for the unveiling. We were all amazed by the many styles and printmakers who were tributed. The turning of each new print brought ooos and aaahs.
Thanks especially to Maria for all of your hard work! You always do that little extra to make things special. You're awesome!

HI ALL:
I will be in Los Angeles from 22 to 30 of this month, for working with
children for an special art project with immigrant Mexican children in that
city.
LA bareners: Any hints about places to go, current shows to attend,
something I wouldn't miss there about art?

I gotta tell you folks, any of you who were not in Exch. 23, have my
infinite pity. This is the best exchange, yet. It is really
fantastic. That Maria is something else, too. She beat everyone with
her whip until she got every last one of those prints in, and people
must have been scared to death she would come after them if they didn't
do their very best work. The boxes are great, the colophon has that
Maria Magic, and even the delivery and outside packaging were
fantastic. Congratulations to everyone in the exchange, each one had
me oooing and ahhhing and saying Oh, this one is my favorite. I guess
they all are! Thanks to everyone.
I wrote in my statement that I had chosen Helen Frankenthaler for many
reasons, but one was that I was afraid there might not be any women
represented. Ha! I should have worried about the men.
Hugs,
Sharri
This is the short story (you will see why soon) of the premature but
not permanent demise of the boy formerly known as "Hanga Boy".
According to my doctor and the MRI's, I have a herniated disc between
the 5th and 6th vertebra. The disc is extending into the spinal cord,
causing all kinds of discomfort. Not outright pain, just burning and a
loss of sensation in my fingers (I drop a lot of stuff now). For
someone who is only 42, this is no good.
So, I am still in for Exchange #24, late but almost done. I can only
print a few at a time, so it is slow going.
I totally screwed something up in the process though with the kento's,
or the pasting down of the key blocks or something, but I think I have
resurrected enough to make a neat image.
It's different for me though, a little off kilter.
Reminds me of the comment about the artist who eats too many beans then
tries to be creative, he winds up being artsy fartsy.
Gotta go now, can't feel my left hand again.

If you have a problem with incessantly checking your emails, as I do, then try holding an online print auction!
I have my first 12 landscape prints for sale in a 4 day auction:
http://www.artelino.com/auction/catalog.asp
It has been a nerve-racking few days, but I am out of the woods now and brave enough to share the experience - without seeming desperate for bids.
I have learnt almost everything I know about woodblock printmaking from the Baren forum, so it is really satisfying for me to report back with some success and show that not only can we learn online, we can also sell prints online!
