Greetings Bareners,
I was strolling around the riverside in Lincoln and saw that the old slipper baths had been demolished revealing the side elevation of the pub "The Witch and Wardrobe" in its half - timbered medieval glory. I was duly diverted and recorded it for posterity before a new restaurant block is built disguising it for another century. Cutting the pub woodblock with its harsh contrast of black and white timbers was inspirational. As a result when I was in our market town, Gainsborough, delivering Baren brochures to the Arts Centre most of my time was spent recording the Old Hall, a much grander building with brick fortification and oak timbers.
All this mass distraction when I should be concentrating on other themes and experiments that I have in mind.
I have uploaded the resulting prints with a very brief history should you be interested in viewing them.

Paris (France) awaits me next week : no doubt it will cure my medieval frenzy.
All the best for Easter Holidays,

Wonderful buildings, Harry.! I especially like the silhouetted tree against
the building.
Enjoy Paris

David,
I'm a little late in my reply.

Dutch immigrant, journalist Van Loom states:
"The arts are an even better barometer of what is
happening in our world than the stock market or the
debates in congress." (Hendrik Willem Van Loon). Van
Loom was a frontline war correspondent during the
Russian revolution and World War I, yet afterwards
authored a fictional biography of his home artists,
Rembrandt. On the one hand, he reported on real,
immediate life in all it's force and detail, while as
well, capitalizing on the fame of another via
literature. The paradox of "is it art or is it the
money?" I see as a false argument that demands a
purity of intentions among artists that does not
pressure other professions. Selling art doesn't demean
it, it promotes it.
