Sarah and "RM" , I have Lynd Ward's book God's Man, A novel in Woodcuts. It
is a powerful story told entirely in woodcuts, 139 of them..
He did the cover illustration of a book by an writer who happens to live in
my area and that's how I was led to him and his work.
The book is availabe at Dover Publications, $8.95. Recommended!

Mike,
Way to go!
I am not surprised that you are having such wonderful success, and it is
heartwarming to learn of each Forum member's achievements. So please,
everyone, spread that good news around when it happens.

Robin wrote re Lynd Ward's, God's Man:

Robin, I just checked among some of our old books in the glass case,
and found the Rockwell Kent illustrated Moby Dick. It's not a first
edition (which was first published in 1930) but a later version (1937)
and is called a De Luxe Edition. I'm not sure how it differs from the
first edition or what De Luxe Edition means. The book is in pretty
good condition and the cover has a gold embossment of stylized waves
moving north to south with the image of a while head down into the
waves. Very attractive!

WOW Mike! I have met and learned from one of the greats! Nice man, nice
family and modest about it all! I am thrilled for you.
You chose to follow your heart and go back to "making things". A wise
decision.
My observant husband saw a nice man wearing a T-Shirt that said Kansas City
on it last Saturday. We went to a local Saturday market, here in Baja, and
we asked if he was from KC. He said yes and than my husband said well my
wife knows someone from there. I said yes a nice man and artist, Mike Lyon.
Dumb me I do not remember his name, but he had wonderful things to say
about you and your family. He said nice folks and that I knew one of the
best! Warm congratulations.

Hello all! Just got back from a short trip to San Antonio and Austin. For
those of you around that area, I hope you take advantage of South by
Southwest (SXSW) film festival. That was a great experience. I have a film
in the film festival (artist extrordinaire- printmaker and filmmaker!). If
you are going to SXSW, my film short, Genius Loci, shows Thurs at 11:00 at
the Alamo Downtown (Austin) with several amazing shorts. My friends
remarked that my filmmaking reminds them of my printmaking - lots of layers.
I also went to the McNay in San Antonio and saw some amazing Japanese
prints and screens at the Taisho Chic: Japanese Modernity, Nostalgia, and
Deco exhibit. It's east meets west. The McNay will be having a printfair
this weekend for those of you in San Antonio. Might be fun?!
Abouth Lynd Ward- my boyfriend has a 1st editon book of "God's Man." It's
beautiful. He also bought two "Lynd Ward" prints. I doubt their
authenticity but he loves them. They are lovely.
About sharpening tools- I am having the same difficulty as Connie. I need
to get another strop because mine is a mess. But how do you know if you are
sharpening at the right angle? All my tools need sharpening!

Hello Baren,
Not prints right now, but I have 2 mosaic rondos on
exhibit, in Arlington Virginia and Washington D.C. at
the International Society of Mosaic Artists. These are
from a series of shields 25" diameter, glass and
gemstone. The first is called "Lakota Red Horse" a
dance/war shield and the other is called "Mystical
Death of St. Peter" for the Day of the Dead Fiesta
here in Mexico.
Once my shop is finished being renovated I hope to
begin color block prints of these rondos, I have 8.
It is a big challende for me.
THANK YOU WANDA FOR YOUR POSTING HELP!!!
