I got those too thank you......... are there still that many outside
the zoo?

I think Wanda you had better lock them up now or take them out of the
wind and wait for the barnyard to hatch its roosters! !! My blocks
are cut for my postcard, but I am not printing in my shed when it is
40o on the outside!!
Otherwise my postcards will also arrive as fried chicken!!!!!

For those on this list who might know him, I copied this post from my letterpress list.

Julie Russell-Steuart

John DePol, wood-engraver / printmaker, printer, and friend to many on this list quietly died this morning. It was only little more than two months ago that he came to the American Printing History Association conference where he and his work was honored. Now as much as he was always here and ready to do his work he is gone.

John lived long, he was 91 years of age, and he worked on too many book projects to list here. I refer all who did or did not know him to David Godine's recent book, Five Decade's of the Burin, The Wood Engravings of John DePol, and to the Book Club of California's John DePol, A Catalogue Raisonne Of His Graphic Work, 1935-1998, Compiled and edited by James H Fraser and Eleanor Friedl and a biographical essay by Catherine Tyler Brody.

John is survived by his wife Thelma and their daughter Trisha. There will be no service at this time. However, in the spring will be a celebration of John's life at Fairleigh Dickinson University, The Library at the College at Florham, Madison, New Jersey. I will notify the list as to the exact date and time.

Hi Keri,

And welcome to baren- I'm sure that many of the people on the list
would be willing to exchange monkey cards with you- without being
signed up for it even! I would - just send me your mailing address by
personal e-mail and as soon as mine is freed from
the block (printed) it will come to you!

Either there are still a lot out there or they have escaped from my
plastic container (plastic because of Jan's monkey with the
'all-too-real' habits. I only seem to have about 17 so far. How about
the rest of you? And Jan - we wouldn't mind getting fried chicken in
the mail. Hmmmmm.....might be a bit gamey though, all the way from
Australia! We'll wait.
