Michael Horvath-
Re 'beginner's tools and honing - Mike Lyon , didn't you say (some time ago
and I think it was you ) that you always kept a set of the Lee Valley
[www.leevalley.com] Japanese tools (1" blades) - set is only $38.50 and
there are more gouges etc available -all can be purchased separately as
well.I use them and they're great and easy to hone since their sharpening
guy told me how - using the block of Green Honing Compound, work some into
cuts you've made on a chunk of wood and fairly gently stroke the gouges in
their own various grooves. Lee Valley also make a small set of their own
woodblock tools which I'd bought many years ago and still use - they have a
small roundish handle that fits nicely in the hand and blades are about 4"
long so seem to last forever -I'm assuming they still make them.

Just a note to Exchange #21 "Surimono : The four Elements" printmakers.
As from today my exchange portfolio is on loan to the William Farr (Church of England) Comprehensive School, Welton, Lincoln until Christmas. The school has the potential to show the prints to around 1,500 pupils (11 to 16 years), advanced students (16 to 18 years), adult evening institute members and teaching staff.
I think that there will be more venues/schools/colleges etc in 2005 so you could put on your CV's " circulating exhibitions in Lincolnshire, England, UK "
