HI everyone

The list server for the political agenda exchange is now active. The list
will act as a conduit for exchange members to communcate ideas and opinions.

I still don't have everyone's details for those of you that have signed up
for the exchange as I had a server hard disk failure that unforgivably
wasn't backed up data, mea culpa. So if you have not received an invite to
join this list please accept this as an invite now.

Kind Regards

Lawrence Finn

PS Thanks for the kind words Mellissa, hope to see you at the opening.
PPS I am conducting another wood engraving workshop in October if anyone is
interested in the details please email me offlist...

In doing some of my watercolors I have begun to paint using color overlays.
The results are different from those you obtain when you mix pigments. I
also tried it once for a hanga style reduction print. If you want to do
this I highly suggest taking a piece of the paper you would run the print on
and do a series of swatches, laying the colors over each other and also next
to each other, thus giving you a general idea what the results would be.
Shireen, you have done a very good job usking this technique,
congragulations on your print. Shireen has used mixed pigments and subtle
colors to obtain this striking result. It really is not so hard, you just
have to research what you are doing and think ahead for your color palette.

I have them( exchanges #?) but am darned if I'll part with them ..... and I don't think she wants to wait until I die so........... as soon as I get the titles I will get back to you and hope that you have some left.

Good Printing,

Thomas,
With a block this thick you won't have to worry about it warping....what a wonderful block!
How long did it take you to do this job? You will really enjoy carving it!
best to you,
Barbara

Barbara,

I have 2-3 hours into the project, but it will only add to the
satisfaction. :)

Thanks,
Thomas

I'm pretty (very) much a novice printmaker and not very familiar with the papers available. I want to try applying color to the back of a print where I've done the black image on the front. I read about this in the Munakata book. Can someone suggest papers suitable for this? That is paper which would allow the color to bleed thru to the front .

Suggestion -- you have planed one side of the block -- now figure out a way
to fix it sideways in that big hand-saw of yours and rip it in half to make
two (or maybe even three!) blocks all with the same surface area as the
side you've planed already -- then plane and sand both 'front' AND 'back'
of each of the two or three blocks you wind up with. Voila! SIX blocks
(or four or two) for the price of ONE !!

-- Mike

PS -- those RALI planes are cheap and work pretty good right out of the box
-- you won't get a ready-to-print surface with one, but those little
disposable blades help you keep a sharp tool with a minimum of effort! Not
a bad choice!
