Just scanned and added to the SwapShop galleries
http://www.barenforum.org/swapshop/intro.html are two new prints:

Carroll Woods from Menlo Park CA, USA, has sent in her very first attempt
at a woodblock print in the Japanese style - "Dow's Apples", inspired by
Arthur Dow's book _Composition_. The print was cut from Shina plywood
using watercolors and rice paste for pigment. Carroll said, "I used one
side of the block for the key, and the other side to separate the
different color areas like the Provincetown printmakers... It is an open
edition, since I am experimenting with the inking."

Carroll also wrote, "I am a beginner woodblock printmaker, and I was very
happy to see the articles and other information about ... printmaking on
the [Baren] Forum's website. I have attended one workshop on the
Japanese woodblock printing technique given by Katherine McKay... Other
than the one class, I depend on books and articles for my information. I
have been visiting the [Baren] Forum site to see what is possible and
what is being done with this method of printmaking. Looking at the
gallery is a wonderful chance to see what other printmakers are doing..."

The second new print comes to us courtesy of Jean-Eudes Lavoie of
Montreal, Quebec - "Nanuk 2", a two-color woodcut in an edition of 16.

Please visit the gallery to take a look at these interesting new prints,
but more importantly: Cut! Print! Send!
Tell your friends! The success of SwapShop depends on the participation
of printmakers like you.

`Dear Claude,

I appologize profusely for not writing you sooner. You did indeed send and enclose the necessary information. It's me ..... sitting here amid the wreckage of 28 boxes, tons of packing material, and three curious cats, that has gotten befuddled. Put some of the info sheet, your's among them, in a SAFE place, and then couldn't find them.

Anyway, the collophon is done now and I'm hoping to have the prints on their way soon. Will let you know when they are in the mail.

Your print by the way, is wonderful. As always your's is one of my favorites. This is a great exchange though, and my very favorite keeps changing almost daily. Hope you like the collective works as much as I do.

Hugs from me and my new cat(she's helping me write this),
Barbara P. and Peanuts

P,S. thanks for re-sending the info

Hi Harry,
Nice study of your Sutton Bridge. Interesting to learn of the history
in your town. Your work gave me inspiration to look up some history
in my town as well.
I enjoyed seeing the results of printing in hanga on the indian paper
and the japanese paper. Not as much of a comparison as there was
with the great results in linseed oil on letterpress. with the reduction
block, i'm sure you printed in oil after the hanga, but did the oil affect
the next hanga reduction print process at all?
I also like your sketches/watercolor illustrations - very nice to have a
journal full of those as well as woodblock prints.
Beautiful cherry blossom-lined road to your studio - a photo, right?

Thanks for sharing!
