Well, maybe I'M the one who is having problems telling time! We've had a
dozen sign-up attempts already, but my watch says there're still 25 minutes
to go before the 'bell'...

Thanks Mike,

I hope you all enjoy this exchange. Unfortunately I have some new work
related commitments brought about by tendering on a large government contract so I
had better not sign up for this exchange... I even had a haiku printed out that
covered 3 of the 4 elements.. I am dying to participate in another exchange
after seeing all those shunga prints arrive.... so have fun guys.

So, perhaps someone else will help me breath some life into the swap shop !!

I would like to organize a mail art exchange. The format would be any
subject printed on a post card and put in the mail.

there are a number of different ways this could be organized. I would love
to have a decussion on this.

If there is interest in this i would like to do it.

"Surimono (literally 'printed thing'), are distinguished from other Japanese
prints in several ways: surimono were privately commissioned and distributed
rather than being issued by a commercial publisher; they were printed on
thicker paper which facilitated special printing effects; and they were
consistently adorned with poems that played games with the links between
verbal and visual imagery."

This explanation says to me that #1 my poem will be printed with the
imagery??? and #2 it is usual for them to be printed on thicker paper.

I intend a woodblock print. My frst hanga for an official exchange. I
assume that the manner in which we include the printed matter can be
personal. By that I mean we could choose to carve a plate or overprint it
with a computer or any other creative method. As long as the main imagery is
carved woodblock form than can we not choose another way to incorporate our
poetry???

Of course I am assuming that my name was there early today to get into this
exchange. I have a haiku I have written and I will soon be creating my
image.
I am going to solve my baren problem soon by ordering a ball beariing
baren!!!!
Oh and any good paper suggestions for this next exchange would be welcome.
Marilynn

Oh sorry about this second letter. Julio, I am wondering if my calendar
prints were mailed. I am not up north and have not heard of any packages
arriving from my friend who picks up my mail??? Getting excited to get home
now, we leave in about a month or so!!!!

I'd be REALLY interested in doing the post card idea!
I was going to make some small prints of my vegetable
garden this summer anyway!

John

Would this mean a regular post card, not envelope or plastic holder?

I like the idea of a mail art exchange--either a postcard or a card in an envelope.

Hi Everyone,

Does the print have to include all 4 elements or can we pick, say, just one
or two of them?

Cheers

Speaking as timid beginner who's not sure he's up to an Exchange, I like the
postcard idea. A nice way to get my feet wet, so to speak...

Like Louise I too have seen both postcard exchanges that are running all the time...

Additionally I have seen actual trading card art cards a couple of months ago and exchanges on the web. they are just like Hockey and baseball trading cards but using your art...

Because of the format of the exchange possibilitie it can be informal like the swap shop involvement...
