This is such an amazing group, I just want to say thank you to everyone who
shares. I don't get a lot of carving time with a retired husband who likes
my company, but thanks to this group the carving is slowly improving. A
warm thank you to David Bull for his ongoing expert advise.
When I was carving my mini print my husband said to me shouldn't you place
the straight edge next to the design? You have to understand that this
husband of mine is a fine craftsman in his own right, he learned
professional inlay work many years ago. Even though he was talented and
very good he could not make a living for us with that work, so he became a
business man. When the discussion came to which side of the kento knife
should be placed next to the design you are keeping, his comment came to
mind. So I decided to try using my knife with the way Dave Bull suggested.
These are the cleanest lines I have ever created, I am thrilled. Again
thank you David for sharing this advice and thank you to everyone who shares
so much.

It sounds like everyone wants to leave the Large Print Exchanges
un-themed. That would also be my vote as I am also working on a show
and would like to follow the line I am on. However, having said that,
we can always adapt whatever we're working on to fit in the theme of
whatever comes up. We're artists for heavens sake - that's what we do
for a meager living, so to speak - we problem solve. It is always a
challenge to find a way to get things to fit in - But, for now - the
LPE's are declared here and now: Un-themed or in other words, OPEN, do
your own thing, and have a wonderful time doing it! :-)

to JULIO R.
Julio,
I just got a second set of calendars. You sent me my order twice. Should I
sent them back to you, or did someone else order one landscape and one
postcard calendar....so I could send the order on to them?

Hi Everyone,
About the minimum and maximum formats for the prints. Is that the picture
size or the paper size?
Cheers

Thanks Barbara. I've signed up for the workshop. It sounds great. Will let you know how it was (it is supposed to be a method for relief also).
Carolyn
Carolyn,
I know it will be great...in order to do relief plates you need to reverse out your image in the computer so the parts you want to roll color on are white. Then xerox this onto a clear transparency. Be sure you set the xerox for overhead transparency or it will be too hot and make the transparency wrinkle or wavey. I usually make two xerox's and line them up perfectly...this gives you a really really good opaque black when you expose the plate. The clear or white part hardens in the uv light and the black part washes away in the water, you can take it all the way down to the backing by washing it out for about 15 minutes.
So go for it.
Barbara
