As a beginner I use newsprint and Sumi paper from tablets to practice. I use
Masa paper, maybe a little more esoteric at a dollar a sheet, for printing
(use the smooth side). I buy all these at my local art supply store. You can
get ideas about the color of good paper you might want for a print this way,
too, as newsprint is tan, sumi is white and masa is bright white.

oops, sorry for two messages in one day, I just read a bunch of days worth of
Barens and that always confuses me.
Just wanted to say I am trying to patiently wait for my two calendars, like
Kat. Is an update on when they will be sent out possible?
Suzi
Did you ever get out of the rhythm of doing something
and can hardly get back in? Well, it happened to me
because ; first my computer crashed, then after it was
fixed, I had lost all of my addresses, etc. And just
when I had started up again (very shortly), I sprained
my right wrist and had to wear a contraption that kept
me from typing. Well , I have been lurking now for
awhile while I get all acquainted again.
Found out that I was in the Portrait exchange as I had
lost the rules , then found out about the yearly
Monkey exchange, which I would like to add my name to,
if it is not too late.
Owe 67 e mails and now trying to catch up. So all of
you nice people , I will get it together.
I guess I should be posting this on After Five but
lost that one too, just recovered the Baren address.
Congratulations to Dave on his show. It is another
notch in his belt (kimono).
And to Sarah and to Frank and all the others who have
been doing fantastically well.
Talk to you later

Dear Exchange 18 participants,
I finally got all the boxes out today. But now I am worried because when I was cleaning up all the paper work in my office. It seems that I have an extra copy of the Colophon information sheet. If anyone is missing theirs or any thing else. Please email me and I will mail it right away. Its been an eye opener the last couple of days . I don't know how Julio was able to complete all those calendars and keep everything straight. Here's to you Julio "Cheers". Gilda

Hi Kat, Suzi and the rest of the members patiently waiting for your
calendars. My apologies for the delays in shipping, the project has been
truly challenging and more than one person should have taken on. Close to
3/4 of the calendar orders have been shipped and everyday I put a few more
orders in the mail.
I am trying to get ALL the calendars out by 1/31. An email message goes
out to you the very day the order ships as an alert to be on the
lookout.....most orders are shipped on flat USPS boxes, Priority Mail ,
delivery confirmation and with $50-100 insurance depending on order size.
Average shipping per order is running approx. $7-9. Thanks to all the
participants for their generous contributions.
All orders for just Nudes, Landscapes, Full-Page or any combination of
those three went out before the New Year. The delay has been mostly due to
assembly time for the Postcard calendars. If your order is a mix of
calendars with Postcards included it has probably been delayed. The 12
postcard sized prints come attach to a loose
sheet of paper stock that has the month information pre-printed. That part
was easy to do for the 90 postcard calendars. The loose sheets come inside
an 8X8" portfolio case I designed which is all hand-assembled. The case
keeps the prints safe and together, ties with a cloth ribbon and is made
to fit snuggly into the display stand that Barbara Mason designed and
created for us. I ran out of the original batch of 45 cases that was done
back in December and now I am making them one-at-a-time (a handful each
night) as I process each order to go out the next day. Each case takes
about 1/2 hour or so to make...lots of glueing and pressing involved.
So, just a little more patience please. I have not heard back much on the
list regarding the calendars but I have received many off-list emails
indicating that they were well received and people are enjoying them.
thanks again.....Julio
These are the people who have paid for a case for #19. If you ordered one and are not on the list let me know.
