Made a small change to the Exhibition page this evening ... I added a
small (?) movie link to the page. It's a short walk-around tour of the
show ... about a 6Mb download, and a direct link is here:
http://www.asahi-net.co.jp/~xs3d-bull/exhibitions_events/exhibition04_a.html
(If that long link split in half, just paste it back together ...)

Apologies for the extra posting ... the link was incorrect, and should
be:

Monkey Exchange Participants,
I am moving next week, and am signed up for the Monkey exchange:
http://www.barenforum.org/new_year/index.html
My new address is:
Lisa Sisley-Blinn
693 Rolling Thunder Drive
O'Fallon, Missouri 63366 USA
I have received many beautiful prints, and hope to have mine out to you
mid-February, after the new studio is set up!
Thank you for the inspiration,
Lisa
With all this talk of monkeys, I'm just wondering where mine are... I've
only received one from Frank Trueba and that was two weeks ago. I just
thought I'd remind people that I signed up late (but my address is on the
list!). I've also sent out all of my monkey prints (which I did about two
weeks ago). I hate to be a pest about it, but I am a little concerned that
only one has arrived so far. I promised my fiance we'd be flooded with
monkeys!
thanks,
emma

Emma,
Mine are in the planning stage...life has been very busy here as it always is and as usual I am over committed...but I will do mine before the rooster gets here, I promise! I have it drawn on the block!
Best to all,
Barbara

:) I wasn't worried about those still working (I know the deadline isn't
for another couple of weeks!). I was more concerned that those who had been
sending prints hadn't noticed me at the bottom. :( I sent all of my prints
in one batch though, and it sounds like others are sending them out a bit
at a time. I'm sure that the monkeys will arrive, I'm just awful at
waiting patiently! ;)

If mineral oil is made from minerals, what is baby oil made of?
Actually, it's made of minerals, too, with added fragrance so it SMELLS like
a baby!
I use Camellia oil for tools because it has no water in it as some of the
cheaper oils do (like 3-in-1). It's pricey, though, I use unscented mineral
oil on my baren wata. (That sounds like a subject for a shunga print! It's
just the pad for oiling your baren, though. They are available at Baren
Mall.)
I wonder if anyone has tried oiling a baren with the "magic oil" I hear so
much about in my unsolicited junk mail these days!

Along with my ball bearing baren was a bottle of camellia oil which I've been
using. No problem with it. I put it on a piece of material because I don't
have a wata, or do I ?

Bravo David!!!!!
The short film was great! It must be a good way to give your
collectors another chance to experience the show.
Thank you for sharing.

Sorry, I snoze...
All exchanges on the way, Printmakers self-portrait sent, Shunga is
hanging (HA! or should I say hung?) and drying and will be on the way
Monday, and monkeys are ready to go in the mail. I took liberties with
the format, but I think you will like it. My monkey is interactive,
inspired by our nice little group. Year of the Monkey must be a creative
one, so far several of us have taken liberties with the format. Neat,
huh? My husband reminded me nobody says "neat" anymore; I think he's
thinking of groovy.
Oh, to whomever was impatient...be patient, sometimes these critters
take years to complete. Most folk send them around this time, but I just
got some galloping horses the other day. No matter, this one is all in
fun.
Puzzle is ready to print and a web update is forthcoming. My paper
arrived without a hitch and I even bought brand new ink with no cat hair
in it especially for this project. In proofing I had to glue the pesky
pieces to the backing board with wood glue; the wheat paste just didn't
hold up to my manhandling. So for those of you who were hoping to get
your block back, I say, I'm so soooorrryyy!!! But think of it for the
good of the project?
Next time I will allow proofing since all you guys are so whiny about
that (just kidding, just kidding). Oh YES THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME!!!
I'm already mind-designing the beast to eat all beasts...

Okay, one more crazy probable-possible idear: in 2005ish I'm planning a
summer road trip through the West and Midwest. I plan to do a
collaborative series of prints where I travel to various printmaker's
studios and design/carve, perhaps even print a print in situ while I'm
there. Y'all let me know if you're game to be on the route, put me up
for a couple of days (3' x 6' space on the floor will do) and I will
start sort of planning my trip. No, really, won't that be fun? I can
make a web log as I go and upload pics and everything, it will be the
greatest printmaking adventure of all. And it's tax deductible too!
More details some time in the future.

Well, If it's a summer road trip I guess Florida is out of the question.

I have only been contacted by one person after the drop deadline but only
three sets of prints have come in yet. (well four are in mine are done as
well) On Feb 1 I will have a better idea on the progress of the prints and
will be able to contact those on the wait list. The exchange prints will be in
the mail on the last day of Feb.
On Feb 1 I plan on starting the wood cut for the colophon those printmakers
who were on time will have there names cut into the woodcut block if you are
late you will be in the exchange if they arrive after that but after I design
and cut the block it will be too late to ad your name. If your print is in the
mail before that but I have not received it please contact me. They will be
in the mail back to you no later than March 1 (the 29th being a Sunday) any one
raving after March 1 will be returned. I feel one month after the dead line
is enough.
