congratulations april have you thought of writing a book on hanga?
It is not often that I toot my own horn, but here goes: At the Annual
Meeting of the Print Arts Northwest I was dumbfounded, and yes, struck
speechless, (hold all comments & guffaws, please) when the group
honored me with an Honorary Lifetime Membership. I still can't believe
it and have to look at the certificate every now and then to make sure
I'm not dreaming. This is the highest award the organization gives and
I am now is such august company as Gordon Gilkey, Manuel Iszequierdo,
etc. I never dreamed. Anyway, another thing is having work in the
Theater of the Mind, the American Print Allicance's new traveling show.
A work entitled Psyche and Her Sisters, which has a digital
background, then woodblock collage, overprinted again with digital
images. The show will be traveling around until 2006, so I hope you
will all get a chance to see it! Incidentally, the Alliance is looking
for venues, so if you can arrange for it anyplace, please contact
printalliance@mindspring.com, Carol Pulin. It does not have to be a
bona fide gallery space - it can be the art dept. at the school where
you teach/attend, libraries, etc. If you don't want to contact Carol
directly, feel free to contact me and I'll relay the message.
Cheers,
Sharri
WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS SHARRI !!!!
Cheers ..... Charles
Sharri,
You so richly deserve this. Sharri was president for 4 years at a time when things were rocky for the organization. She put in thousands of hours and substancial dollars to keep it going. She is a decicated printmaker, a wonderful teacher, a good friend and a great traveling companion. I was overjoyed to be the person to present her with this award.
Congratulations again Sharri...you got your printmaking gold star!
Best to you,
Barbara M

print alliance? do we have a password?

georga
Sharri,
Congratulations on such a wonderful award, great news....there is nothing
like being celebrated by your own peers to attest to your success. You
guys have a great group out there !
Wishing everyone on Baren a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday !!!!

Gorga,
I think you might need to subscribe to their journal for this....but you would be eligable to submit work if they have a call to artists without paying any money.
I think they need to raise money to maintain the site and to publish their journal (more like a small paperback, about 30 pages) and the $100 a year from the 12 non-profits that belong just won't cover it.
Our own website and all the related stuff is about $800. Before we had the Baren Mall (where we make 5% on orders) to fund this Dave was paying it himself, so we are happy to take that burden from him.
To get the password you need to send the American Print Alliance $30, be sure to mention that you are a member of Baren Forum. If you forget to mention that it will be $35.
Best to you and have a happy turkey day...I don't have to cook so I am happy!
Barbara M
Georga and all,
I should have given you the url for the print alliance...it is
www.printalliance.org
If you put dot com you will get some printing company.......
Best to all,
Barbara M

Hi Sharri,
Congratulations on your award. It is wonderful to have an insightful artist
willing to spend so much time on behalf of our printmaking community, your
recognition is well deserved!
The print that is travelling with the Alliance sounds wonderful!
Best Wishes and Happy Thanksgiving to All.

Just a me-too note to say how much I enjoy the new Baren Digest format. (We only returned from Mexico this past Sunday to an overflowing mailbox, and I've now finally caught up on the Digest reading.) The new Digest is so very much easier to read and makes it simple to follow the conversation threads. Thanks so much, David, for going to such effort!
