Both are by a Mr John Gage who is apparently at Cambridge. I > have ordered these. I am but a slave to my book addiction! :-) From one book-slave to another, you will for certain enjoy Color and Culture, it is a fascinating and huge! book. I will try to get a hold of the other, sounds very interesting. I used to do custom color matching for an automotive body shop supply and became truly fascinated with color and color mixing and its behavior. Who woulda thunk that skill would become so handy in my artist life! Re: "Simple Printmaking" available online with Barnes & Noble or Amazon. I just bought my copy, can't wait to see it. Thanks for finding that out for us Georga. I must encourage everyone to meet members in the flesh. Saturday, I spent a wonderful couple of hours with my cherished L.A. friends at Ruth's opening. Ruth's work is beautiful and alive, and, like the artist, so bright and full of life that it energizes and delights just to see it (more on this with pics in Baren-suji's October Issue!). We seem to always bring "props" when we get together, so this time Georga brought some unidentified stones for us to I.D. I think one of them was an ancient Navajo arrowhead, but the rest were oil stones and one ceramic water stone. She also brought some cutting tools and a block for everyone to marvel. Bea was up and jogging around with her bum leg all healed up (I exaggerate for effect), and her husband delightful and charming as ever. All in all, we just chatted about [Baren] and printmaking and how we do things and Bea has a wonderful project going with another [Baren] member. I'm sure she will talk about it when the time is right, let's just say Chinese woodblock printmaking is featured and she spoke about this technique. But the main thing about this L.A. group that I noticed was that we all enjoy the art and craft of printmaking IMMENSELY! It is apparent in the way we like to chat about it and binds us together in this wonderful creative adventure. Truly a neat group of friends! Health to all, Maria PS It is *too* possible to drive to L.A., attend an opening and come back to Vegas all in the same day in one piece, and I never even went over the speed limit. Once you get to Nevada, the speed limit is measured in light-years, not in mph, so Warp 9 is the limit. Those of you who never watched Star Trek, (I feel sorry for you and) please disregard the PostScript. <><><><><><><><><><><><> Maria Arango, Printmaker Las Vegas Nevada USA http://www.1000woodcuts.com maria@mariarango.com <><><><><><><><><><><><> ------------------------------ From: "Daniel L. If you do smaller work the last one could be the 6.0 x 9.1 cm When you get these and after a 20 prints or so, the hair does not stop coming out, send it back for replacement. I don't know what quality theirs are but cheap ones are not worth buying.
