Comments from the artist: The pink blossoms represent all the earthquakes and aftershocks from March 11th to March 14th in Japan. Their positions are based exactly on seismic data maps from the United States Geological Service. The Kanji characters for the date 'March 11th' are incorporated into the design of the branches. The sparrow represents the courageous spirit of the Japanese people, flying in the face of adversity.
